I want to postpone and complete by email, because that would be useful and fast!
When Sandy sends me an email about a TODO, I'd like to be able to email back "done." and have it tagged done. This is natural and quick and shouldn't be hard to do.
Also, I'd like to postpone an appointment via email response to a reminder email. "Postpone this for an hour." "Postpone this until next Tuesday at 5pm"

Inappropriate? You are coming up with great ideas!! I second both of these.

Inappropriate? Are you saying the "update" syntax is too obscure and you'd like more natural language?
Right now, each item in a reminder email has a number and you can respond with "update #1 @done" to change @todo to @done.
Update info:

You can also snooze reminders:

Inappropriate?yeah, i've already screwed up the update syntax, though i guess i'll learn.
it's standard practice in email cultures i've been in: the canonical one-word email: "done"
people love it. people love to write it. people love to receive it. -
Inappropriate?Hi folks,
Good thoughts on this stuff!
Just to be clear for posterity's (and the next person's) sake:
* To mark something as done when Sandy sends you a reminder, reply with: update @done
* To have her remind you again in an hour, reply with: remind me in an hour

Inappropriate?I replied with "done" (not knowing about this thread) and Sandy forgot the to-do item instead of marking it done :(
I’m sad
