Import contacts?
Is there a way to import my contacts with a VCF file or a CSV file or a long list into Sandy without having to write "remember" in front of each entry? Which doesn't work that well either when you have multiples tags like : Address, First Name, Last Name, etc.

Inappropriate?Hi lemon,
Just send Sandy an email with the VCF as an attachment. :)

Inappropriate?I tried it a few times. This is the answer I got.
"I got your email but couldn't find anything you asked me to do. Let's see if we can quickly remedy that:"
Should I write something in the body of the message?
Thank you for your help Marshall. -
Inappropriate?Hmm, possibly. I think it depends on which mail client you're using; I didn't have to write anything using Apple Mail. What program are you using?
Try just writing "Hi Sandy!" or something, and let me know how it goes...

Inappropriate?Thank you Marshall,
I use Gmail. I will try with Groupwise (Novell)
I will let you know how it goes -
Inappropriate?I have saved a vcf created by Sandy for one of my contacts. After, I deleted the contact. Then, I sent an email to Sandy with that VCF file. Result :
Hi, lemon!
Uncluttered inbox, uncluttered mind,
Sandy
I made a search on the website, the contact doesn't exist.
Thank you for your help -
Inappropriate?No use,
I have tried with a single VCF (with Hey Sandy! in the message body) sent from Groupwise and she tells me that:
Hey, lemon! I got your email but couldn't find anything you asked me to do. Let's see if we can quickly remedy that:
Maybe because the VCF files was generated by Groupwise? -
Inappropriate?Lemon,
Thanks for experimenting. I think I found the problem, and I'm making Sandy's vCard importer a bit smarter. It'll definitely handle Gmail attachments now. I'm not sure what Groupwise VCF files look like, so I can't make any promises there, though.
I'll post here again when the fixes are deployed... probably tomorrow.
Stay tuned! :)

Inappropriate?Marshall, a couple comments:
- I just imported a LinkedIn VCF file with about 200 records, and it imported perfectly. Sandy even did the right thing with duplicate records.
- However, that was on the second try. On the first try, Sandy replied with the "I couldn't figure out what you wanted" message. I resubmitted the file in a completely blank email (no subject, no signature, no blank lines), and that did the trick.
-
Inappropriate?I spoke too soon! Sandy deleted the preexisting tags on all the existing records that were duplicated by incoming VCF records she was importing. I think this is the wrong behavior...
-
Inappropriate?First off, I'm using Apple Mail and Address Book in Leopard.
Sandy seems to only import vcards if you tell her to do something else and the card contains only one contact.
Anyone else find a way to bulk import contacts?
Also, it would be nice to have a way to import via the site.
-
Inappropriate? So, I noticed attaching multiple vCards for single individuals worked. However attaching 300 or so seems to be a bad idea. They didn't get added and no messages I've sent since have been processed.
-
Inappropriate?I think this is one area needing some work, as I've had no luck importing a multiple vcard file, and mixed results using even just one vcard at a time. Sometimes it works, and others, Sandy doesn't know what to do with file.
-
Inappropriate?Greg,
What program generated the vCard files you're having trouble with? Sandy knows how to handle files containing multiple vCards, but perhaps she's hitting some invalid formatting or something.
Thanks,

Inappropriate?I used Thunderbird along with the add-on "MoreFunctionsForAddressbook".
-
Inappropriate?I generated mine using Apple Address Book.
-
Inappropriate? How's development coming on this? And how does Sandy handle duplicate contacts? Can contacts be merged?
I’m excited
-
Inappropriate?Following this. Why can't I upload contacts online just like on stikkit? If Sandy is built on the stikkit api than why doesn't she have all the same features out of the box?
-
Inappropriate?I'm trying, right now, to import contacts by emailing Sandy with nothing but an attached vcard. I tried a single contact vcard as well as a multiple contact vcard. No luck.
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?I have a similar desire to send Sandy a Word document with addresses and phone numbers (in particular this is a board roster for a nonprofit I serve on) and have her add the contacts. Stikkit could do this, but Sandy can't for some reason.
I’m grouchy
-
Inappropriate?I send Sandy a vcard with multiple contacts, generated from Apple Address Book, but she says there is nothing in the mail. I have no way to split this vcard into many vcards with single contacts (other than by manually exporting each one, which will take an hour), so I have no way to import this info to Sandy.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Apparently, Sandy also cannot deal with more than one single-contact .vcf attached to a single mail. So even if I split up my big group vcard into a hundred individual ones, attaching them all to an email to Sandy doesn't work.
I’m increasingly frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I just tried this and it WORKED, requires basic knowledge of Excel and MS Word. The idea is to use a little conversion magic to create a text file with each contact on a separate line and word REMEMBER in front of it and paste that into email for Sandy. There are probably any number of ways to do that...here's what I did: Make a CSV file for your contacts (export from wherever they are), open the CSV file in Excel, add a column to the front and fill it down with "REMEMBER" then select the whole thing, copy/paste into MS Word...replace tabs with spaces (use CTRL-H and enter ^t as symbol to represent tab, and just put a space in the spot for what to replace with)....Once that is done you'll have a document with REMEMBER and each contact info on a separate line. Then copy that whole thing and paste into email, send to Sandy. I imported about 300 contacts and there were about 6 with errors but that's not too bad!
Good luck.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Looks like this 'feature' is remains entirely broken. I have tried to export my gmail contacts and import them into Sandy with an attached csv and vCard with no joy.
I don't want to use Tracy's method as I believe it strips all of the meta.
Any idea on when this will be working?
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I just exported 6 contacts into a vCard file from GoogleMail, and then forwarded it to Sandy, and she got all 6 contacts with no problems.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Whats your platform? i'm running xp and saving the .vcf to local hdd and then sending it to sandy as an attachment. Did you put anything in the subject or body?
I just did my 'most contacted' which is 20 entries and it failed. Sandy replied "I got your email but couldn't find anything you asked me to do. Let's see if we can quickly remedy that:...."
here is a snip from the first two entries... in my .vcf (modified user info)
BEGIN:VCARD

Inappropriate?I'm running windows XP64, using FireFox3.. My vcard looks like this (sanitized):
BEGIN:VCARD
VERSION:3.0
FN:Bob Jones
N:Jones;Bob;;;
EMAIL;TYPE=INTERNET:bobjones@hotmail.com
END:VCARD
BEGIN:VCARD
VERSION:3.0
FN:Jane Jones
N:Jones;Jane;;;
EMAIL;TYPE=INTERNET:janejones@comcast.net
END:VCARD
I simply attached it to an email to sandy (via gmail), with no subject or body (Aside my from sig). During the export, I chose "vCard" format, and saved it as "contacts(4).vcf". -
Inappropriate?im XP32/Pro and FF3... sandy will accept a single entry from me but not more. From the above post example i can do either entry but not bot together in a vcf file.
alone works
BEGIN:VCARD
VERSION:3.0
FN:someuser
N:last,first;;;
EMAIL;TYPE=INTERNET:someuser@gmail.com
EMAIL;TYPE=INTERNET;TYPE=HOME:someuser@cox.net
TEL;TYPE=HOME:555 555 5555
TEL;TYPE=CELL:555 555 5555
END:VCARD
alone works
BEGIN:VCARD
VERSION:3.0
FN:another user
N:last1;first1;;;
EMAIL;TYPE=INTERNET:anotheruser@cox.net
END:VCARD
does not work
BEGIN:VCARD
VERSION:3.0
FN:someuser
N:last,first;;;
EMAIL;TYPE=INTERNET:someuser@gmail.com
EMAIL;TYPE=INTERNET;TYPE=HOME:someuser@cox.net
TEL;TYPE=HOME:555 555 5555
TEL;TYPE=CELL:555 555 5555
END:VCARD
BEGIN:VCARD
VERSION:3.0
FN:another user
N:last1;first1;;;
EMAIL;TYPE=INTERNET:anotheruser@cox.net
END:VCARD
I tried a couple of different entries and doesn't look like sandy want's to parse more than one... format doesn't seem to be an issue just multiple vcards in the file.
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?hrm.. None of mine had phone-numbers.. If you remove the 2 phone numbers from the first contact and then send it to her.. Does it work?
I’m unsure
