iPhone interface to IWS?
The ONLY thing that is stopping me moving from RTM to IWS is an iPhone interface. Any plans for one?

Inappropriate?I'm curious. I assume you're looking for a mobile version of the IWS web interface? I mean, I can pull up IWS on my iPod Touch without any problem other than it being a little small.
I'm not so sure I'm all that happy with some other interfaces I've seen "mobilized" but I guess if they want to make a separate mobile interface that's fine.
I’m curious

I am using IWS on my iPhone, but it is excruciatingly slow, and I have to zoom on each page. It is a *real* pain to use. -
Also, I have to login again every other day or so... I am giving up. Switching to Remember The Milk. -
Inappropriate?I think that Robert, like me, would really like to see a native iphone application for IWS. This would be just wonderful!
I’m excited about the possibilities!
-
Native app would be incredible. -
Inappropriate?I'd like that too! Having to always use email is the only thing that keeps me from hiring Sandy full time.

Inappropriate?I am currently working on a custom iphone interface. I will update It is really exciting i am building on this an expanding on the functionality like a wet Archimedes coming out of the bath tub.

Inappropriate?Okay, here is the quick and dirty version which has to do more with creativity than any programming. Hopefully the guys at I want sandy can pick up and run with it and I will get some geek cred.
Use rushmsg.com to create custom email subject using the common phrases "I want Sandy" understands. For example:
Remind me
Remember to
Snooze
Update #
Forget #
You may also want to set up a couple of common lookups like
Lookup @todo
Lookup @(your relevant popular context tags)
Unless I am completely off my rocker this is a quick and dirty solution the interface is the regular clean apple interface that is completely customizable on the iPhone using rushmsg.com. Adding email as a contact for quickly selecting your email. This may not do everything on the web site but handles creating items quickly with text that have to be rewritten.
I have a more advanced version of this that I am working on and should work even better but I'll need a little more time for that just wanted to get this out to your iPhone guys. Coming up with creative solutions is my passion.
I’m happy

Good on you Fox! Look forward to checking it out when I finally get an iPhone. -
Thank-you... this is indeed a q&d alternative to my sending tweats ... looking forward to your more advanced version -
Inappropriate?

This was sent to me by the Lone Gunmen. They said they are currently working on developing this some more but it works for asking Sandy to do stuff. Please do not be fooled by the title Sandy is not a person you call. :-)
Going the extra mile here to avoid typing on the iPhone. Next up is creating a drop down for a list of tags. Also what is not seen here presently is that anything entered from this interface is saved to review from your iPhone in such a way you will see a list of entries searchable by date, type, or tags.
I am sorry to tease you with just a pic. More details letter. Unfortunately for my love of money everything used to create this is free. So I won't be able to charge you an arm and a leg for it. Maybe just a pinky.

Is this a web interface or a native app? Web is slower, as the iPhone needs to open a Safari window first. -
First, this is a web interface. Web slowness is not an issue for this implementation especially with 3G. This will even pop on edge. Unfortunately I am not one of the lucky few developers who can post an app and I hear there is about a 6 month or more waiting list for anyone applying now. This works now.and is fast. (no page bloat). I would be one of the first to get a native app if one were available. -
I may have missed this somewhere, but am wondering where I can get this interface to use on my iPhone? it looks great and I look forward to the completed ap when the time comes (hopefully) but in the meantime can we use this for Sandy with iPhone and where? -
I would love to touch base with Rael on this and get his input before putting this out. For now, you can use the quick and dirty version above using Rushmsg. Hopefully, I'll hear from him soon. I'll be tweaking this until then. This Get Satisfaction thing gives the sense these discussions being watched by employees but without a "last signed in on" or PM feature it seems you have to guess when they were on last or how contact them. I would have expected some input from him by now. Maybe I just have a misunderstanding as to how this all works. -
Inappropriate?

Some of you may say why should I use a web site to create my tasks to Sandy when I can just create an email from my iPhone. Heck, I can even use notes. The picture above illustrates a perfect reason why.
If you cannot avoid typing on the iPhone some prefer to type large landscape rather the pushed up portrait. Using this Sandy iPhone interface you can type all your text beforehand in large landscape.
I’m excited

Inappropriate?Working on this app earnestly to get a distributable version out. Also rewriting the manual so I get a full understanding of it. I will update and will attempt to have this ready by Friday. This will be something you can run yourself. I am not aiming for the type you log in with your username and password.
I have not heard from Rael yet and hopefully will by Friday.
All the best to all of you -
Inappropriate?http://www.iphonesandy.com. I scaled back from my original vision. I need to learn more iPhone Web Dev but this should serve you guys well in the mean time.
Feel free to send me any feedback. You even have a beautiful home screen icon for easy access. -
Inappropriate?Terrific - thank-you!
A few suggestions I think might make it just a tiny bit better:
1) I'll probably still use a twitter client when all I want to do is send a quick "remember" but perhaps you should set the "How can I help you" enail with a first line seed of "remember" to save a few keystrokes?
2) put an email seed @todo item in place of the "tell a friend" (a more useful function; still fits on one screen)
3) Login button top right loads the I Want Sandy's own login screen, while the scoll entry "Log in" doesn't ? Why not (other than screen size - and while I've look at the page source, this could be changed if someone hacked your server)?
Finally, are you releasing the code to the public? Could I put it on my own server with your permission? Have you had any response from the "I Want Sandy" people to your efforts ? -
Inappropriate?1) Done
2) Done
3) I don't have a problem linking to the the I Want Sandy Login. I just wanted to create something that looked more native to the iPhone interface. Yeah if someone else hacked into my server they could change it. I have now changed it back to the official site log in page.
This "code" is not personal to any specific user. Anyone can use this site at the iPhoneSandy.com address which I think makes it simple. Sure you can host it on your server and you would just be a duplicate place to do the same thing. (there is a version I have in mind for specific users but I am a young jedi and would need to do more training with a yoda)
I would probably think it more appropriate for I Want Sandy to host this on their servers.
And no, I have not heard from any "I Want Sandy" people yet if I don't count you guys :-). I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Inappropriate?Fantastic, again thanks for all your efforts on our (users) behalf !
My question re using the code was because I was thinking of adding a few items specific to projects (and thus associated tags) that I use -- these would not be of use to anybody else using your system - I was thinking of replacing the "Cheat sheet" with a "tab" on the front page for projects which would scroll out to a list of specific project tags that could be seeded into body of the email (similar to what you do with repeating items; eg @project1; @project2 etc.)
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate?I see what you mean I am working on something that would allow people to do something like that from their iPhone on the spot including creating the directory from the iPhone.
In the meantime, I would recommend using Rushmsg. If you want to get your hands dirty you can play around with the iPhone iui code to create something similar.
Thank you for your feedback.
I’m thankful for I Want Sandy Users
