my sms reminders come as emails
I'm on Rogers in Canada, and all my SMS reminders come in via emails. Not a huge problem, but annoying that I have to reply with a 'read' message before I can see a reminder. Any suggestions?

Inappropriate?Hi Cupcake 32451,
How did you configure your mobile number with Sandy? In the "mobile" tab or as a secondary address in the main settings tab? SMS reminders should be pretty short and plain text, but if you configured it as a secondary email, Sandy doesn't know that it's a phone, and so sends the full email reminder.
We are working on a method to allow all mobile phones to corresponds with Sandy without adding them as secondary email addresses. We just gotta finish helping Sandy with time zone issues so that we can give the SMS interface some love.
Thanks for writing in!
Best,
David

Inappropriate? Thanks for the reply, it cleared up some questions! I can say that I set my mobile # under the mobile tab as opposed to the secondary e-mail.
I’m confident

Inappropriate? You're going to want to talk to Rogers. It is possible that they're converting an SMS into MMS.

Inappropriate?Hi,
What you're experiencing is Rogers' "Email to TXT" system. It seems that you have to subscribe to Rogers' "Email to TXT Direct Delivery" ($5/mo) to get rid of the need to reply. More details are here: http://www.shopROGERS.com/store/wirel...
You should call Rogers and discuss it with them. In the US, you can sometimes convince carriers to waive such fees in order to keep you as a customer.
Hope this helps!

Inappropriate?I have two questions one for Theory and one for Marshall:
1. When do you think this feature will be available, can you provide an example of how to setup the mobile number as an email if you are using Rogers? I setup my mobile in the mobile tab, the feature you mentioned of.
2. Hey Marshall, I setup the email to txt system but continue to have to type read everytime I get a reminder? Am I missing a step in the setup configuration?
Thanks,
Faheem -
Inappropriate?Faheem,
If you want to *send* Sandy messages via SMS, you can add your10digitphonenumber@pcs.rogers.com as your secondary address. However, Sandy's replies will be formatted for a full email client, which will make them difficult to read on your phone.
Using the "Mobile" settings tab, you can *receive* reminders from Sandy via SMS which are specially formatted to fit in a text message, which it sounds like you've already figured out.
As for the need to reply with "read" every time, I'm not sure since we have no direct experience with Rogers. It sounds to me, though, that Rogers has a free "Email-to-Text" system and a $5/mo "Email-to-Text Direct Delivery" system. Only the Direct Delivery option will get rid of the "read" link.
Hope this helps,
Marshall

Inappropriate?Marshall,
Is there anyway to get around this without having to pay the $5, can I not just get Sandy to text message me in some way?
Thanks,

Inappropriate?Gentlemen,
I just talked with Rogers. I asked them to provide this feature to me on a complimentary basis, and they were happy to comply. (I did point out within the conversation that I have been a client for ~10 years...)
I’m happy that Sandy can contact me more easily!

Inappropriate? Is there any plans to fix this? I get SMS from Google, Twitter, and other web sites "properly" - they come in as standard SMS and I do not have to send an SMS to read them as I do with text from iwantsandy.

Inappropriate? This is actually something that Sandy can fix. I had the same problem with Twitter SMS messages until I asked Twitter to send me real SMS messages instead of email SMS messages.
Twitter was aware of this problem with Canadian carriers and was easily able to change the type of SMS it was sending to me. Now I no longer have to reply with Read to get the message. I get a proper SMS message.
Can Sandy please, please do the same? I'm getting very tired of replying with 'Read' to every notification.
I’m tired of replying 'Read'.
