Sandy Keeps Reminding After Due Date Reached.
When I send an email to Sandy asking to remind me about a specific event on a given date and time, most reminder systems/programs will remind me at a selected time prior to the due date and time, and then stop. No more reminders for any event past the assigned due date/time - unless it is specifically set up to "Repeat". Currently I can see no way to stop these endless reminders except to write and ask, or visit the web site and mark the event as "Done". Not sure what in the heck "Forget" is supposed to be - I can do that all by myself. Why name a feature with such ambiguity? What exactly does "Forget" do? All I really need to know how to do is the following"
1) Create an event and assign a reminder.
2) Ensure it is setup to send me the reminder at the assigned date/time prior to the event's assigned time.
3) Stop reminding me about any event whose assigned date/time has passed - unless I set it up otherwise.
As it is I am never quite sure what I am asking of Sandy. Terms should be somewhat intuitive and standardized, as opposed to "cute".

Asking Sandy to set a reminder for a particular time and not specifying that it repeat in any way should mean you receive one and only one reminder. If you could post an example of what you sent her here, I'll be glad to see what's what. Alternately you can forward a copy of the one of the repeated reminders Sandy sent you on to help@iwantsandy.com (add "Attn: Rael" to the subject please so that I can be on the lookout for it), we'll be glad to troubleshoot.

so basically Forget = Delete. -
Inappropriate?norbiq - I've about memorized the darn thing. But Sandy is apparently a lot like my first wife and doesn't pay attention at all. I received a reminder tonight about a ToDo for an event that occurred at 9 am this morning. Now the event is past, correct? But Sandy was telling me she would remind me about it again tomorrow morning - and I don't really feel I should have to act on an event in the past.
But I followed the guide and replied with the following exactly:
"Sandy, u #1 @done"
That should mark it as done, correct? (This reminder email referred to the event as "#1", and it was the only event contained in that email from Sandy).
Two minutes later I received an email from Sandy saying that she has updated an event that did not exist - at least I never created it. It is worded:

* Scheduled for Thu, 2/14/2008 1:15pm
Did Sandy create that herself? Now that is labeled #1, and the event I was replying about, the one scheduled for this morning that I updated as @done is shown on the website as NOT having the @done tag and is active.
So why & how did Sandy create a new event based on my update of a reminder from her for an existing event? Why wasn't the event, the only one in that email and numbered as #1, updated with the @done tag? My reply email is worded exactly as shown in the Guide, isn't it? Starts with "Sandy", uses the "u" shortcut for "Update", then one space, then #1, then the tag "@done".
She's been doing this for a month and a half now and it is causing more work to try and fix then I bargained for.

From what I'm reading above, it sounds more like a) an issue with Sandy not being able to determine to which message you're replying (some mail applications provide very little to go on without reading the quoted mail itself yet again — and even then, it is reformatted, spindled, and often horribly mangled) — or b) Sandy is noticing something in your reply that was meant to be quoted by your mail program (for example, if the "remind me in 15 minutes" example has all of its > quoting stripped, she has no real way of knowing that you didn't type that).
So...
First things first: What mail program are you using?
And second: It's usually much easier to diagnose this sort of issue if you could please forward Sandy's response email to help@iwantsandy.com (if you've not already: I'm going through the queue now), adding "Attn: Rael" to the subject line so I can be sure to notice it amongst the others).

I primarily use either Gmail or Fastmail's web mail interface. Neither are very unique or unusual.
Just to update you, I received even more odd reminders from Sandy today, and none are supposed to be active - even according to my Sandy web page.. Seems like whatever I direct her to do she still is intent on reminding me. Can't be my PC, I don't think, as I just reinstalled Windows this past weekend. So this is effectively a "new" machine, OS-wise.
For now I have used "Forget" on all items on my Sandy page. I need to slow down the replies.

It seems that Sandy is picking up on the earlier material in your replies -- perhaps they're not being quoted properly (or we just have to teach Sandy about those clients too). What if you reply to a reminder with "update @done" and cut out all the rest of the reply -- her stuff and yours?
