SMS notifications in the UK
Has anyone in the uk got the sms notifications to work correctly? I'm on T-Mobile and no matter what format I put the phone number in (domestic or international) I do not get my confirmation sms. :-(

Inappropriate?Same here. It worked fine initially (up until a couple of months ago) but then simply ceased to function. Yet the same email address (******@t-mobile.uk.net) works fine with other services such as Twitter, or Google Calendar. Very confusing.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I've tried various formats and have had no luck. I'm using vodafone UK. Does this service just not work?

Inappropriate?vodafone uk mobile number here, give us a ****ing clue please.

Inappropriate?I've switched to google calendar. They don't do a lot of the cool things that iwantsandy does, but their sms reminders work - and that's what I wanted the most.

Inappropriate?Hi folks,
I'm terribly sorry this thread seems to have been overlooked -- particularly since there has been some good trouble-shooting going on in another similar thread at http://gsfn.us/t/3wl (that's a short url for another GetSatisfaction: Sandy conversation).
(Aside: I've mentioned the issue of multiple threads not being merge-able in GetSatisfaction to the GS folks.)

Inappropriate?Hi everyone,
Could someone on T-Mobile UK try changing their carrier to "Other" and entering <10-digit-phone-number>@t-mobile.uk.net? If that works, we should be able to fix the "T-Mobile UK" option for everyone else.
T-Mobile's web site says: "You can receive emails as text messages by configuring your profile online..." So it sounds like you may have to log into your T-Mobile account and turn on SMSes-via-email.

Inappropriate?Just tried it. Although I recall this is how I used to have the settings arranged before Sandy had a specific T-Mobile UK option - and it was during that time that the service stopped working. (Although - as another poster has noted - it seems to function for Google Calendar.)
And half an hour later, nothing's shown up yet... will report if it does.

Inappropriate? If you send email to that address do you receive it as a text message?

Inappropriate?I just sent an email to 077xxxxxxxxx@t-mobile.net.uk from Mail.app and it came through on my phone in a few seconds.
I then went back to iwantsandy and tried entering my mobile number + selected T-Mobile UK, no confirmation code came through. I then tried choosing 'Other' and entering the full 077xxxxxxxxx@t-mobile.net.uk, still nothing.

Inappropriate?Hi folks,
Forgive the cross-posting (http://getsatisfaction.com/iwantsandy...), but I wanted to be sure to provide this info to Sandy's (particularly UK) clients having trouble receiving SMS/text reminders:
---
I'm sorry I couldn't reply any earlier, but I wanted to drop in at least and see if we can't at least find a clever workaround for you two (and other UK-dwellers having trouble receiving Sandy's SMS reminders).
We'll be delving back in and seeing what we can figure out on Monday (you're catching us mid-Thanksgiving here). But in the meantime, I'd like to suggest that you use Sandy's ability to send out reminders via Twitter [http://twitter.com]. It's really easy to set up, a Twitter account is free, and I know they have rather reliable UK delivery. If you're up for giving this a whirl...
1. Go to http://iwantsandy.com/settings/twitter and follow the instructions for turning on Twitter reminders.
2. Go to http://iwantsandy.com/settings/mobile and turn off mobile reminders.
3. Add your mobile phone as a Twitter device at http://twitter.com/devices.
4. Make sure you are not only following Sandy (user name "s" on Twitter at http://twitter.com/s), but also have "Notifications" (click the "Following" grey box under Sandy's picture on that page) _On_ so that "You will receive s's updates via SMS"
Act now and your Sandy+Twitter reminders package will include free instant messenger reminders (just add your IM details as another Twitter device at http://twitter.com/devices).
Again, we'll continue striving to get SMS reminders from Sandy to whomever we can by our own means, but this should work rather nicely for you if you're having trouble receiving any SMS messages from Sandy.
Happy Thanksgiving -- and a Happy Thursday/Friday to our non-US friends ;-)

Inappropriate? Can I clarify, you have all the UK networks listed except "Orange UK", but there is a generic "Orange" option - does this include the UK as well?
I'm already using twitter but I'm interested, not only because a direct service seems slightly more convenient (if its free - Sandy must be spending rather a lot on her phone bill every month) but also because its not the first time I've seen services not available on Orange and I'm wondering if their API is more complicated, they charge more to use their network etc.
So if you're able to enlighten me on that...
Thanks,
William -
Inappropriate?Everyone should note that the Twitter SMS option is VERY expensive on all networks in the UK. I think that the email-sms gateway option is likely to be much cheaper - I'm not sure about reliability though. The T-mobile gateway seems to be quick however.
Also the t-mobile web link given in the FAQ no longer works and I don't think you have to switch this on. I didn't. Don't know if it is different for business users though.
Regards, Julian.
