Spinvox - a UK alternative to Jott
I can send Sandy an email from Spinvox but the Spinvox transcription is always in "quotes" and so Sandy does not recognise it. If the quotation marks are manually removed it works perfectly.
If Sandy were able to ignore quotation marks in emails sent from Spinvox then this would be a good alternative for Jott for those of us who cannot use Jott.
The more people who report this problem, the more it gets noticed.

Inappropriate? How did you get Sandy to confirm the Spinvox email address?
-
Inappropriate?I couldn't.
What I did, as a test, was to get Spinvox to send the email to me. I then manually removed the quotes that Spinvox puts around the transcribed text and then, in theory, I could have forwarded it to Sandy for action.
What is required is for Sandy to ignore quotes when they originate from a spinvox domain. Her natural behaviour is to ignore everything in quotes so, at present, Sandy won't work with Spinvox.
Sorry to raise any hopes! -
Inappropriate?Thanks for the reply.
As well as the quote problem there is the forwarding problem. I have tried to have my Spinvox post forwarded using a filter in my gmail account but in testing the process I can see that my forwarded emails still say they come from spin-my-broadcast@spinvox.com, and as I don't own this address I can't get Sandy to confirm it.
I'd love to find a workaround for both these issues. -
Inappropriate? The only option I could see would be to run a PERL script on any mail from Spinvox to replace quotes with spaces and then forward it to Sandy. One would have to be receiving mail on a machine that was always on for this to work. Not very useful for the average user!

Inappropriate?Howdy,
Does Spinvox from what you've seen have any sort of developer API? Or at the very least is there any indication that the message came from you through Spinvox rather than their generic "spin-my-broadcast@spinvox.com" address?
Any chance you could post a sample message (headers and all) from Spinvox here? (NOTE: please do xxxxx out all identifying information.)

I guess I'm not speaking clearly enough this morning as I said "This is a test message to post on get satisfaction for I want Sandy!" - however you get the idea, and I do like the spinvox service.
As you can see it does come from the spinvox generic email rather than a specific user email.
Anyway - I've had a very quick look round the site http://www.spinvox.com and there is twitter integration and ability to send text messages to certain people etc. Maybe something in here. Didn't see an API bit but only had a quick look.
I only signed up to Spinvox and Twitter (as not very big in my part of UK) in the last week so getting to know the functions.
I guess for this issue if Sandy could disregard the quotes in the message if contacts the words spinvox that would be good. Could then just set up a forwarding email address.
Thanks for your help, great site!
Cheers,
Chris
I’m happy to help and hopeful of a workaround. Happy New Year!

Inappropriate?I'm having the exact same problem with reQall. I had similar problems getting reQall to talk to Sandy in the first place, due to their opt-in requirement. Finally got that figured out, started testing with voice, web and email, and since reQall puts quotes around everything Sandy doesn't recognize ANY of it. I REALLY want to be able to use reQall for everything.
I’m frustrated
