Subscribe to Sandy ics file through iCal
I'm trying to subscribe to the Sandy calendar through iCal on a mac, and it doesn't seem to work consistently.
I get "Error on refreshing: No calendar was found on webcal://iwantsandy.com/list.ics. Please check the URL."
I get "Error on refreshing: No calendar was found on webcal://iwantsandy.com/list.ics. Please check the URL."

Inappropriate?Hi Eric,
That's odd indeed. I just checked once again by removing my iCal subscription and clicking the link on iwantsandy.com to re-add it and it worked like a charm.
What do you get if you go to http://iwantsandy.com/list.ics ?
It should either show in your browser or -- more likely -- download as list.ics. If the latter, try dragging it on to Text Edit and making sure it does indeed have content. Also, try double-clicking it to open it in iCal and make sure it imports the events as a test.
If you don't get the file at that URL at all, then it is odder still -- but please do report back and let me know.
We'll get you subscribed!

Inappropriate?Yes, it downloads. Yes, it exists. Yes, it has content. Yes, it loads into iCal.
No, I still cannot subscribe.

Inappropriate?Hi Eric,
This sounds similar to the problem some other users have reported here:
http://getsatisfaction.com/iwantsandy...
Does anything in that thread help? If not, this sounds like a new issue. If you could email help@iwantsandy.com and mention this post, we can take a look at your specific iCalendar file to see if we can find what's causing the problem.
Hope this helps,

Inappropriate?Sounds very familiar, but deleting the subscription and resubscribing didn't help. The initial load works fine, but it fails to refresh with the issue above.

Inappropriate?Eric,
Thanks for trying...
After getting the error while refreshing, does it show a little exclamation point next to the calendar's name? If so, what does clicking on it do?

Marshall -
Inappropriate?yes. clicking on it shows the error I listed above: "Request encountered an unexpected error on subscribed calendars (code 4)."

Inappropriate?Hmm, that's odd. Please email help@iwantsandy.com so we can look at your feed more specifically (without sharing any personal details here).

Inappropriate?I did that yesterday afternoon, but haven't heard anything back from anyone yet. What's the timeframe for expecting a response?
-
Inappropriate?Hi Eric,
Marshall should be getting on this and replying to you tomorrow. Sorry for the slight delay.

Inappropriate?Hi Eric,
So we still have no idea what's causing this to happen, but Rael has managed to get it to happen to him, too, which is progress I guess. :)
We're going to keep working on it and I'll let you know. Right now it looks like it could be a bug in iCal 3, though... it doesn't seem to happen in older versions.

Inappropriate?I'm having the same issue - I can subscribe to the iCal feed and it does the original population, but once there - it won't refresh and I get the "Request encountered an unexpected error on subscribed calendars (code 4)." error.

Inappropriate?Howdy,
We have been doing some experimentation on this and had thought it was due to Sandy's using your email address (as opposed to single-word login) as the authenticating username, but that didn't seem to help at all.
We will keep on fiddling with this to see what we can do to make it work, but I'm loathe to say that it appears to indeed be an iCal (for Leopard) issue as all worked splendidly before upgrading and other services are having similar issues with this.
Just to be certain we are making the right assumptions here, is anyone having this trouble who _didn't_ upgrade to Leopard?
Macworld this week! Perhaps we'll see a fix or three...
