Syncing from Sandy to Outlook to a PDA
Hello,
I'm an enthousiastic user of Sandy but I have the following frustrating problem.
I input calendar and to-do items in Sandy through the Web interface. Sandy is connected to my PC calendar (Outlook 2007), so all entries get automatically transferred there at the next sync time (every 30 mins, I believe). Outlook presents both calendars (local and Sandy's) either side by side or merged. Everything works up to that point.
Now, I have my PDA (Windows mobile) connected to Outlook and all entries should be carried over via Windows ActiveSync. My problem is that Outlook's local calendar entries get copied to the PDA (no problem there), but I can't get Sandy's calendar entries to be copied over.
I realize that this may be an Outlook issue and not a Sandy issue, but I though you may know something about it.
Thank you very much in advance for any help.
Best regards

Inappropriate? That actually might be an ActiveSync issue.
Go to ActiveSync --> Tools --> Options and see if you can adjust the settings to include both calendars. I tried to look into it myself, but I sync with an Exchange server on Outlook 2003, so I probably have different options than you (and I can't get Sandy into Outlook 2003).
Hope that helps. -
Inappropriate?Thanks for your reply.
I am on Vista. I open Windows Mobile Device Center > Change content sync settings > Calendar > Sync settings
There, ideally, I should be able to see both available calendars (mine and Sandy's) with check marks to select the first calendar, the second or both. Instead, I see the names of two PCs(!) with radio button-type selector, so I can select only one of them at a time.
Ther doesn't seem to be any way to select Sandy's calendar for syncing with the mobile
I’m very frustrated!

Inappropriate?Hmmm... I'm still on Windows XP thanks to my fantastically avante garde corporate IT (although in this case, I'm glad since Vista seems to have some problems) so I can't offer much more advice concerning syncing on Vista. I can point you in the direction of another resource though:
www.mobilitysite.com
They are a very large and active community. You might be able to search the forums and find some tips or perhaps post your own question and get some help. Since you are successfully getting Sandy into Outlook, I feel pretty confident that the issue you're dealing with here lies in the sync process between the PDA and Outlook.
In the interest of full disclosure, I am a reviewer for the mobilitysite family of websites.
Sorry I couldn't give you a magic bullet. Good luck! -
Inappropriate?I have this question to---and new thoughts. How do whe use Sandy with our calender when we use an IPhone of PDA.
I use Vista and an IPhone
Thanks for any insight.
I’m confussed

Inappropriate? Is there a way for Sandy to synch directly to a WM6 Smartphone?
-
Inappropriate?I found a solution - although it is not free. Chapura software (chapura.com) has a program called FolderMirror that puts the Sandy information into the main Outlook calender. When you do your regular sync from your desktop to your mobile device the information from Sandy is downloaded into your mobile device. I have just tried it once and it appears to work. They have a 7 day free trial so that should be enough time to see if it will work on other devices and systems. It claims to work on any OS.
I’m hopeful

Inappropriate? If you don't want to get a paid service, you can do a few more steps and just import the ical files for your appointments. Sandy can send them via email when you make an appointment, or you can go to the appointment itself and download the file there.
Another thing you can do is periodically go to your daily digest, look on the bottom right of the screen and you'll see the box "Take it with you". The first bit under that has two options, Subscribe, and Download. If you download that file, it imports your entire Sandy accept your Contacts.
Note that I haven't done the last one myself, as I do the individual transfers when I want, though most of my Sandy I don't bother syncing.

Inappropriate? Thanks! I do the synchronize bit already, but that just makes a separate calendar I can look at in Outlook on my desktop but doesn't actually place items in my Exchange calendar.
Would the ical ones download into my Exchange calendar or the separate Sandy shared one?
Hee--I just realized I could just try it myself instead of buggin you! :)
I’m feeling silly
