Talk to Sandy quickly using Quicksilver
You can make reminders and otherwise interact with Sandy using Quicksilver, meaning you barely need to leave the app you're currently in to add a quick note.
You'll need:
* A Mac.
* Quicksilver. Quick intro: http://docs.blacktree.com/quicksilver... Download: http://blacktree.com/
* The mail plugin
* Sandy in your adress book. Open the .vcard file that came with her introductory mail to add her easily.
When you've got that setup, all you need to do to make a reminder is:
* Press your Quicksilver shortcut (opt-space by default)
* Type ' to get into text input mode instead of search mode
* Type your email as you would normally (e g "Pick up kids at 5 pm")
* Press tab to move into the 'action' field (what to do with the text)
* Type "mail" and browse with the up and down arrows until you get to "Email to... (Send directly). Quicksilver will learn this and make it the default action the next time you type 'mail'.
* Tab to the third field, where you select the recipient
* Type "sandy"
* Press enter, and you're done!

Inappropriate?However, this method has a problem, I just realized: Anything you tell Sandy with this method will be added twice :/ I'm guessing that Quicksilver puts the message both as the subject and as the message body. Could you at Sandy maybe ignore the mail body if the body is identical to the subject?
I’m sad that my QS method isn't flawless

Inappropriate?Hi Joachim,
Thanks to your posting, I just twigged about what's been going on for a couple-three other folks who have been receiving duplicate reminders [http://gsfn.us/t/4gl]. We're on it!

Inappropriate?This is a very nice tip, esp. once Sandy learns to ignore exact duplicates in the subject & body of a single email message.
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate?And now sandy has learned to ignore dupes in the subject and body of an email.
Thanks for the heads-up!
Best,
David
I’m Quicksilvered

Inappropriate?This doesn't work for me. I don't get an email in my sent folder, and Quicksilver dosen't really let me know anything. I've enabled "Email to... (Send directly)" for both Text and Email addresses. Are there any other Quicksilver options that need to be set for this to work? Could be that I'm on Leopard. If I use an email address in the third pane, it gets sent. This is less than useful since I haven't quite memorized my random Sandy address. :)
I’m wishing I could Quicksilver Sandy

Inappropriate?The QS method is very non-verbose. The only notification that it worked will be a swoosh sound when Mail successfully sends the mail.
Hm. I'm on Leopard, and it works. And I'm sending to the Sandy AB card, not directly to the email, and it works. And it was years since I setup my QS configuration, so I don't remember if I had to do something special, but I doubt it.
Sorry, don't really know what's wrong on your side :/ -
Inappropriate?Ok, I did some research and figured it out. Google led me to this page: http://theappleblog.com/2007/03/14/qu...
The video mentions that "it used to work but stopped in B51 3800". However, the first comment points to the TextMate ranker breaking third pane address lookups. Sure enough, if I use the Default (built-in) ranker, third pane works. I'll live with "Sandy - email item - text" versus "text - email to - Sandy" rather than give up TextMate ranking. There's too much typing involved for me in Default. I'm sure it will be fixed some day with all those smart open source programmers working on it now. :)
I’m feeling brilliant!
