Unexpected Behavior Scheduling Appointment for a week from today

For my first test of Sandy, at 1:30 PM today, I emailed "remind me about my appointment Tuesday at 11:00 A.M."

However, Sandy sent me a confirmation telling me I have (had) an appointment today at 11:00 AM even though according to my correct time zone settings, this already occurred. I shouldn't have to say "next Tuesday" because that can be confused with a week from Tuesday.
