UPDATE for May 12th, 2008
Howdy,
Today's update brings some further user-interface improvements in preparation for the fun(ctional) overhaul we have in the works.
=====
TWEAKED: Inline action links
The action links we introduced last week brought those actions you perform several times a day — editing, deleting (forgetting), and archiving — inline (rather than having to click once just to get to them, and again to take action). Some of you — and, admittedly, me too — pointed out that these links took up too much room, enlarging the footprint of individual items a wee bit too much. So we've tweaked them still further, moving them over to the right and iconizing them so that they're within easy reach yet as unobtrusive as possible.
Thanks Jaclyn, Trevor, Waffles, and the rest of you [http://getsatisfaction.com/iwantsandy...] for making your feelings known!
=====
TWEAKED: Show/hide past events and done to-dos
You'll notice new "Show/hide past" and "Show/hide done [to-dos]" links at the top of any page you're likely to need them.
For example:
* Select "Your stuff > Appointments" from Sandy's menu-bar for all upcoming appointments; now click the "Show past" link and the list will also include past appointments.
* Select "Your stuff > To-dos" for your current to-do list; then click "Show done" to include done to-dos, "Show past" to include all not-yet-done and done to-dos past, present, and upcoming.
A shout out to Kate, Kevin1, and others [http://getsatisfaction.com/iwantsandy...] for pointing out the inconsistencies!
=====
IMPROVED: Empty results suggestions
We added suggestions for where you might find what you're looking for when your search resulted in, well..., no results.
=====
FIXED: Archives
You should find all you expect to when clicking the "archive" tag in the right-hand sidebar while looking at any view of your your stuff, appointments, to-dos, etc.
=====
DOCUMENTED: Mobile reminder instructions for T-Mobile UK customers
Having trouble setting up mobile reminders for your T-Mobile UK mobile? Check out the updated instructions and help documentation at: http://iwantsandy.com/help/mobile
Enjoy!

Inappropriate?Yay! Thanks so much. This makes my (way too long) daily digest usable again.
I’m thankful
-
Good to hear, Jaclyn! And if you've been looking to widgetize Sandy, you'll be happy with what we have on the way ;-). -
Inappropriate?As always, thanks billions! Sandy keeps getting better!
One little thing I noticed...it seems that the newly-tweaked iconized inline action links only show up when I mouse over them. Kinda weird...is that on purpose? -
Howdy! Yes, that was indeed on purpose — our aim was to minimize the clutter when you're just reading your page (otherwise my to-do list — and yours — would be an unreadable higgledy-piggledy of action links) while still keeping them close at hand. Interesting that you found that weird: it's a pretty common design pattern (not to say it's necessarily the best one, mind). When you hover over the item at hand (anywhere in that row), the action links show up: hover over one the action links in particular and it lights up so as to be more obviously the one you're choosing. —R -
I would like to see them a little darker. They just look like little gray blobs until I mouse over and they darken, which gives them enough contrast to make them clear. -
Hmm. That could work. -
Inappropriate?Oh, very nice Rael, having the inline action links on the right. I didn't see them at first but I've always liked that kind of design feature. Thank you.
On another note: For some reason, what I thought I had down when Sooin explained doing items in a list, e.g.,
r [list name]
*[spacebar]item 1
*[spacebar]item 2
is now showing me the asterisks instead of making bullets. I keep trying it different ways like putting "r" before the title or using no title, still I seem to be doing it wrong or else it's changed.
L. -
Hmm... I will look into that. -
Rael, sorry, my mistake. The fact that Sandy now puts what I just wrote visibly below the task instead of hidden above as previously ("I Took note of the details..") made me think the item was going to remain that way. -
Inappropriate?So, about those new inline links....
all the usefulness with less of the clutter. Very nice.
If I could suggest one thing though, it would be tool tips. I like being reassured that I'm clicking what I think I'm clicking.
I’m silly
-
There actually is a title on all of those links -- every linked bit of text and linked icon on the site actually, for accessibility reasons as well as the one you mention. Does it not show for you if you hover for a second? -
Nope. I see down in the bottom left corner what the address is that I'd be going to. Although if you say it's there it could very easily be something that I've done to my system. -
Inappropriate?Here's a suggestion...very minor, but it would be a helpful little touch...
When I'm looking at a view that is more than one page long, you know that "Next ->" link at the top? How about another one at the bottom, so I don't have to scroll back up to the top to move forward?
I’m lovin' Sandy
-
Heh! You are going to love what I have in the works! ;-) -
Yay! Can't wait! -
Agreed. -
Inappropriate?I was thinking that a 'postpone' button - you know, press an icon button and advance the due date of any particular task up 24 hours - would be useful as well. That way I don't have to hit edit, calendar, new date, and ok for dated tasks I could not accomplish today. Either way, I love my personal assistant. Sandy rocks!
