Update problems
Updating tasks from my desktop email client works perfectly well, but answering a mail from my mobile in order to update a task always results in the same answer from Sandy: She can't find the task to update.
Is there any other way to update a task by email without using the "answer"-function?

Inappropriate? Are these updates being sent via eMail? or via SMS?
Are you using the "#1" syntax to indicate which item to update? Like "update #1 @done" ? -
Inappropriate?I sent the update request via email. Yes, I am using the "#1" syntax. Asking Sandy to remember something works fine. It is just the problem with the answer, which is the same when I reply to a single reminder with "update @done"
I just read in another thread that it is possible to update by using the unique item ID. What is the syntax for this update procedure? -
Inappropriate?hrm, I'm not familiar with that syntax.
My guess would be that your phone isn't initiating a proper reply (with the original message enclosed). If you simply send an email to your phone, and then reply to it, do you see the original message at the bottom of the email, with your reply at the top? -
Inappropriate? That doesn't seem to be the problem. My reply is on top, the original message at the bottom...
I was referring to this answer from kevin1:
"There needs to be some identifier in order to tell Sandy which item you want to update.
A) identify the item by its ID number. (aka http://iwantsandy.com/1234567 )
B) identify the item by a relative ID number.
(i.e. be in a "conversation" with Sandy about an item and then update it.
When you say "update #1" the #1 is relative to the conversation.)
C) identify the item by name.
A) and B) work now. There are a lot of problems with C)."
The update with relative ID number is my problem. Maybe A) could be a workaround for my problem. But: How does A) work?
The thread is

Inappropriate?Via Email, i don't think A is possible. Via email, B is the only supported method currently.
I know this is on your Mobile, but is there any way for you to post an Example? a Screenshot? cut-n-paste of the email ? something? -
Inappropriate?Here is what I did:
The mail to my mobile contained the word "testmail".
I used the reply function of my mobile and added "antwort".
That is the result:
antwort
-----Ursprüngliche Nachricht-----
Von: "xxxxx" <xxx>
Datum: 24/09/08 16:32
An: xxxxx@xxxxx
Betreff: test
testmail -
Inappropriate? If you view the Headers of the email, do you see a "In-Reply-To:" Header?
-
Inappropriate?That is what I got:
From: =?utf-8?b?UHJvZi4gRHIuIFZvbGtlciBMaW5nbmF1IA==?=
To: =?utf-8?b?UHJvZi4gRHIuIFZvbGtlciBMaW5nbmF1?=

Does that help? -
Inappropriate?hrm.. Well, not knowing the internals of how Sandy's handles these, I think the problem may be that your email client isn't properly indicating that the email is a Reply (via the "In-Reply-To" header), meaning Sandy can't figure out what you want to update.
I'll bring it up to Rael, but I don't honestly know of any workaround to this. -
Inappropriate?That doesn't sound too hopeful..
Anyway . thanks a lot for your efforts to help me
Maybe Rael finds a way to enable the "ID Number" based update via email if he cannot get Sandy to understand my other update requests....
I was just told that it might be a matter of the MIME encoding my email client does and / or the utf-8 format. As far as I know I cannot change that...
