Windows vista calendar and reminders
When I import or sync the list.ics file I'm prompted about reminders that I'm already reminded about. Then I have to dismiss these reminders (every time the calendar is synced).
Is there something I can do to the appointments (with an email) or is there something you can do about the ics file?

Inappropriate?Hi Pstuifzand,
I'm a little puzzled by your question: let's see if we can get to the bottom of it...
So you import or subscribe to Sandy's iCal feed from Vista (and I'm assuming Outlook 2007). When the time comes for a reminder, you're prompted by both Sandy and your Vista (Outlook?) calendar. And so you're wondering how you can have those reminders show up on your calendar but not bleep at you from there or have Sandy not send you additional reminders for the same things -- am I pretty close?
If I'm understanding you correctly:
1. Would you like Vista (and again, I'm assuming Outlook) to not bleep reminders at you?
2. Would you like Sandy not to remind you? By email? Or SMS? Or both?
If 2. is the one you're after, then you can ask Sandy not to send you reminders by email and/or SMS by tweaking your settings in http://iwantsandy.com/settings/email and/or http://iwantsandy.com/settings/mobile, respectively. You'll find Yes/No toggles under "Reminders" headings on each of those pages -- just be sure to click the Save button when you've made your choice on each page.
if 1. is more to your liking, I'm going to have to leave you in the hands of another of Sandy's friends here on GetSatisfaction as Outlook is not my bailiwick and right now I'm not near my trusty Windows laptop.
I hope this helps.

Inappropriate?I'm sorry that I wasn't clearer the first. The problem is like this:
When I import/sync the ical feed, the calendar will show reminders that I have been already reminded for (like three or four days ago). The 'old' reminder show up as overdue. These are things that I already got an reminder for and completed.
For example:
I had an appointment last friday. Sandy sent a reminder to me, which is fine, that's what I use Sandy for. Now I import the ical feed into the calendar, which says, you had an appointment on friday (it's wednesday now). I don't want that 'old' reminder from the calendar program. I do want the reminder from the calendar, but not when its overdue (and of course not every time I sync the calendar)
So is their a way for me to let Sandy know that a certain reminder is 'done', so it won't show up in the ical feed?
P.s. I'm currently using the built-in Windows Calendar of Vista. -
Inappropriate?I have this very same problem but using Thunderbird's Lightning...
It's driving me mad...

Inappropriate?Hi Blu,
The issue is around the fact that you're importing and most calendars doing iCalendar imports turn a blind eye to the fact that some items may already be in the past and even duplicates of items you've previously imported.
So here are a few suggestions:
1. Can you not subscribe to Sandy's calendar feed [http://iwantsandy.com/help/feeds] from Lightning? That would keep things up-to-date live rather than requiring you do repeated imports.
You'll find more info on subscribing to remote calendars from Lightning at http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calen... (or just select Tools->Subscribe and follow the directions).
2. If not, can you not specify that you don't want anything from the past imported from the iCalendar file you're importing?
3. (And this is certainly not something I recommend as a time-saving practice, mind you.) You can tell Sandy to archive a particular item (ex. "update #1 @archive" by email or clicking the item and then the "Archive" link on the web site) and that effectively silences reminders/alarms).
Please do let me know how you get on -- particularly with choice 1 above.

Inappropriate?I tried the first one, a funny thing happened... Now I don't have the tasks/events but I keep getting ghost reminders... My way to solve this was to ask Sandy to forget the tasks, it works but I think Sandy and Lighting should work their issues to understand that @done tag means no more reminders...

Inappropriate?@rael I have this same problem. Everytime I refresh the calendar or open sunbird all the reminders for items marked @done come up again. I have definately subscribed to the calendar and not imported it.

Inappropriate?All,
One solution would be to turn off alarms and rely on the traditional sandy email or txt. this would work for me as I use the calendar as a graphical reminder of my day/week and any sort of reminder is acceptable
I’m undecided
