Google Maps for ROUTEs on circuits & training flights
Google map only displays if ROUTE has a start and end airport - what if you're doing circuits or going to the training area? I've had to set all my ROUTE values to YMMB YMMB for circuits and flights to the training area. The system should recognise that a single value ROUTE means the start and end points are the same.

Inappropriate?Actually, one-point routes are fine. See http://jetrecord.com/routes/1L8
In your case the airport didn't exist in the database when the original route was created and thus, the map wasn't showing up at all.
See my reply to your other question about the other route map not appearing: http://getsatisfaction.com/jetrecord/...
Routes can be created without locations actually existing. I do this so you can name the route whatever you feel like without having to worry about whether it's official or not. Your logbook is your logbook and I try not to impose too many restrictions on the way data can be entered unless it's something critical like calculating numbers.
You can, for example, do this: http://jetrecord.com/routes/YUM+IMPER...
But I think my other reply is what you're looking for.

Ummmm - I must be missing something 'cos changing one of my flights to have a route of YMMB (instead of YMMB YMMB) didn't bring up the map (see http://jetrecord.com/Falcon124/flight...).
Is this because the Route YMMB existed before the airport YMMB was created? (http://jetrecord.com/routes/YMMB)
If so, how do I edit the Route YMMB so that it knows it's got an airport in it? The Route you mentioned (http://jetrecord.com/routes/YUM+IMPER...) has a set of locations in it. The YMMB route does not.
Am I missing something here? :) -
Inappropriate? After the route updating script runs, all should be fine.
If you want to hurry the process along, first make sure the airports exist by typing in their locations: http://jetrecord.com/airports/ymmb. Then go to the page for the route you want, e.g., http://jetrecord.com/routes/ymmb and tack on "/edit" to the end of the URL, like so:
http://jetrecord.com/routes/ymmb/edit
From there, just click the "Update" button. The map should show up. If it does, you're all done. -
No joy - says I don't have permission to perform the requested action (when I go to routes/ymmb/edit) -
Also, note that I loaded the YMMB, YMMB YMMB, YWCK and YWCK YWCK routes days ago. That's why I'm concerned that there's something wrong with the automated processing that's supposed to parse routes :) -
Sorry about that. Try it now. I just made you a Route Editor. -
Did you also create the airports days ago, or just the routes? -
Alright - I have Route Editor power - woo hoo :)
As to the airports - no - I created them recently - I was only putting values in the ROUTES field. All the flights I entered over the past week or two were done with ROUTES and nothing else. I never set my home base until recently and I didn't put one in for the aircraft I flew as they're all based elsewhere these days :)
