First Zivio Impressions
My Zivio arrived after a year of discovering its existence. I wanted to share my first impressions and experiences. Ordering online went smoothly and the ordering system instantly sent out the purchase confirmation emails. I was surprised at the low price and didn't hesitate to order. It's ironic I got your announcement email on my iPhone and I had to wait until I got home since the website won't load on my phone. The free FedEx Ground shipping was a great touch. It was easy to track using the link on the shipping confirmation email. I was at the Mail Center 20 minutes after it was delivered. I was surprised at the size of the shipping box and I'm stunned when I unpacked the Zivio box. The Zivio itself looks so good in the website pictures and the box is a first class presentation. The attention to detail with the magnetic cover to the slide out tray is right up there with the boxes for my Bang and Olufsen desk phone and my Apple iPhone. The packaging gave me high expectations for the performance of the headset. The directions are clear and educated me quickly. I plugged the shorter charger cable into my iMac's keyboard USB port and the charge was done in about an hour. I have lots of experience with electronics and the obvious quality was just like the photos. The lighting colors, the feel of the exterior, the shine of the metal parts, the fit and finish of the buttons and earpieces ooze excellent engineering. Ok, I have one quality control gripe here. Whoever packed my headset left a big fingerprint on the chrome. I wiped it off and the beautiful polished luster erased the annoyance. The pairing to my iPhone happened on the first try and I'm trying out all the ear pieces and the ear hook for the best fit. The headset is so light I can trust it to stay in place with the small clear ear gel and no ear hook. After a few minutes you don't hardly notice it. I'm familiar with the Nitinol boom and its shape holding properties. With the boom extended and a little pressure toward my mouth, the boom takes on a great curve that hugs my face. So now its 9:30 and I'm calling people that won't mind a late call to break it in for sound quality testing. I didn't tell them about the headset for a few minutes and none of them could tell it was a headset. The sound was clear and distinct just like my digital headset with a sound tube boom that I use with my B&O desk phone. The sound in my ear was perfect and I had to lower the phone volume because the clarity made it easy to hear. All this is relevant because I have 5 other so called \"quality\" bluetooth headsets sitting in the closet because I couldn't hear and people couldn't hear me. So I went to church today with my headset on and I was stopped 3 times by friends that saw the boom and had to know where I got it. They know I'm a technophile and this was nothing they've ever seen. One thing I have to get used to is how easily I can accidently press the last dialed button when I put it in my ear or in my pocket. I have to ask, can you figure out how to hear voice mails on my iPhone? I know the iPhone does something different for playing voice mails so I'll just use the speak phone to compensate. So after 2 days of use in the house and outside, I believe my Zivio is the World Class, top-of-the-line product I expected it to be ever since I read about on the web. The extendable boom does exactly what its supposed to do and its the perfect companion for my black iPhone. I can't wait to walk into the Mac store and see how long it takes to get noticed. I feel that for what I received in performance, appearance and presentation that its bargain priced. I buy the best I can find and if I was in a high end electronics store like B&O, I would not hesitate to pay $250-$300 for it. Thanks for making a great product and not \"cheaping out\" like the headsets that hang in blister packs in the mall. There will always be a market for professional grade hardware that helps people reliably communicate.

Inappropriate?I must agree with everything you have said. I did sorta tick a salesman off in the Verizon store, Saturday. I didn't horn on his attemp to sell a lady a headset, she seen mine and asked where and what, so I told her. "BOOM" NO SALE, for the salesman. But this didn't help my situation when it was time to try and get my pos LG Chocolate replaced with anything but another one. So I declined his ILL offer and went elswhere. LOL
I am useing this new headset on my v9 Moto and love it in every way. I drive a Truck for a living and Need a High quality headset. This is it. I also own All the others, now All retired. -
Thanks for the feedback, Mike! We're very happy that you've had a good experience. And thanks for evangelizing our product to others! You rock! -
Inappropriate?Bob,
Thanks so much for taking the time to post your impressions! We really appreciate the feedback, and we're elated that you love your Zivio! The Zivio has been a labor of love for many of us, so we're really happy to see it in the hands of appreciative customers.
Regarding your iPhone question, the reason voicemails perform differently is because the iPhone stores them as MP3 (music) files, and plays them back as it would a song, and not the way it transmits phone calls. We're looking into a workaround, but for now the fact that the iPhone treats the audio from music and phone calls differently is the source of what you've been experiencing.
Thanks again for your post. We hope you continue to enjoy your Zivio! If there's anything we can do for you in the meantime, please let us know.
Best regards,
Peter
I’m ecstatic!

Peter,
The info about voice mails as MP3s is insightful. Fix this and I can use my ZIvo to listen to my iPhone as an iPod too! Now that would be cool. Bob -
We're definitely investigating to see what, if anything, can be done about voicemails on the iPhone. Unfortunately, it's possible that this is an iPhone issue. As for playing stereo sound on your Zivio, that's not yet possible. But we are working on a headset that will do just that! -
Inappropriate? My Zivio didn't work well and there a number of similar reports out there. Here's engadget's review: http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/16/zi...
Does anyone know if there were different hardware or software versions out there and how we can tell which we have? -
