Problem: Gorillapod going soft
Hi, I purchased a Gorillapod (original) last year in Germany. I loved it! I thought it was such a cool product. Unfortunately, after a few weeks the articulations just seemed to soften up, to go loose, limp. It's now simply unable to support my camera (Pentax Optio 33WR, weight 225g, 0.5lb) and it collapses one way or the other. The camera attachment hole is offset so that doesn't help. I had been hiking in the Alps so I wondered if altitude, and heat, could have triggered the problem. Am I the only one experiencing a similar problem? Also, can you advise on any simple method to increase friction in the joints? Thanks, Paolo

Inappropriate?I'm very sorry you've had a less than stellar experience with the Gorillapod. It's possible that you got a slightly defective unit, but regardless we'd be happy to replace your Gorillapod.
Please send us an email to info@joby.com with the following information:
1) Your shipping address
2) A photo of the Gorillapod (with Joby logo showing)
We will then send you a replacement as soon as possible.
Again, sorry for the inconvenience. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
I’m disappointed.

Inappropriate?Hello Peter-
I have this same problem. I love my Gorilla Pods and own four of them. However what I have found is the joints are cracking. On my most used Gorillapod one of the articulations is indeed very loose and pretty much non-serviceable (it won't support camera weight as above). Close inspection shows that one of the plastic retaining sockets has cracked, being only retained by the grey band. I will email you as above with some pictures attached. Hopefully this isn't indicative of my other ones because it's an awesome design like no other. Thanks for the great customer service.
PS I mentioned the Gorillapod in my writeup of a mini tripod for a Kestrel Windmeter. Link is below and my pen name is "Nutnfancy"

Inappropriate?Hi there,
I'm sorry you're also having this problem. Naturally, we'd be happy to replace any of your Gorillapods which are broken or aren't working well. If you could please send us a photo of the affected Gorillapod, making sure the Joby logo is visible, we'll be more than happy to send you a new one.
Please include your shipping address, phone number, and - if you can - info on where and when you purchased them.
Thanks for your understanding.
