Screw or no screw
There was a loose screw in the mailing package when my SLR zoom arrived- I'm not certain that it's an adaptable screw- mine has a slit at the top- is this the right one?? I was under the impression that it would have a 'hole' at the top for something else to screw into it??? HELP- this is a gift that I need to mail out to one of our brave soilders overseas!!!

Inappropriate?Hi there,
The screw you found does indeed belong with the SLR-ZOOM. It is a 3/8-inch adapter screw for certain types of tripod heads and other devices that you can attach to the SLR-ZOOM.
Almost all cameras use the standard 1/4-20 threaded screw which is built into the SLR-ZOOM. So the screw that's attached to your Gorillapod is probably all that you will need to use it with a camera or camcorder.
However, if you want to use the SLR-ZOOM with certain types of ball heads, tripod heads, or other attachments which require a 3/8-inch diameter screw, then you can simply affix the loose screw you have on top of the Gorillapod. Then your Gorillapod will be able to accept non-standard attachments as well.
If you're not sure what a ball head or tripod head might be, and if you're just planning to use the Gorillapod with a regular camera, you don't need to worry about the adapter screw, but we include it anyway for our customers.
Hope this answers your question. If not, please let us know and we'll be happy to help you further. Thanks for your purchase!
