Suction cup not holding to iPhone
The suction cup attachment does not hold well to the back of my iPhone, it fails after 15-20 minutes and the iPhone falls! I am using it on a stationary exercise bike shelf and it should hold for at least an hour without releasing... Help!

Hi Steve,
I believe you've already been in touch with our customer service department via email, and as I understand it we'll be sending you a new suction cup in case yours happens to be defective.
You may already be aware of this, but just in case I wanted to point out that unlike most other "lick and stick" suction cups, ours actually has a small lever which helps generate suction. When you apply the suction cup to your iPhone or other mobile devices, please be sure to follow these steps:
1) make sure the surface of your device is clean & free of dirt
2) lift up the lever on the back of the suction cup.
3) while keeping the lever up, firmly press the suction cup onto the device surface.
4) as you continue to press the suction cup onto the device, simultaneously push down the lever, locking it into place.
You should then have a tight seal between the suction cup and your device.
I'm also attaching a helpful illustration.
I’m hopeful.

Inappropriate? My Gorillapod just came in the mail. The suction cup is not holding my iPhone - despite carefully following the instructions above. I'm very disappointed. What should I do?
I’m frustrated.

Inappropriate?Contact Joby. They were quite responsive with my issue. They immediately sent new cups. Thought it never got resolved to the degree I needed. I ended up feeling that the suction cup just would not hold --by design-- the iphone when under vibration, like on a stationary bike.
-
Inappropriate? If you believe you have a defective suction cup, by all means please contact us at info@joby.com. One thing to keep in mind, though, is that the suction cup is designed to be a temporary holding device, and it works best in stationary situations. For a stronger and/or more permanent hold, we recommend using the adhesive clips, which are removable and should not leave a residue after being removed.

Inappropriate?Joby sent me a replacement suction cup.
It held my iphone for 3-4 days and suction cup no longer holds it.
I do not use them on moving environment, it just sits on a desk.
I’m frustrated

I'm sorry the suction cup isn't working for you. Have you tried the adhesive clips? The adhesives sold after mid-August (2009) are removable and should come off cleanly. Also, we're about to release a new device which might solve your problem. Stay tuned. -
Inappropriate?Having to buy a new device because the old one fails to perform as advertised is not an enticing option...
A suction cup that fails as soon as any amount of dust or hair is in the atmosphere is rather a waste of space. Cleaning it before each use with an alcohol swab is way too much effort for such a simple thing, and attaching/removing adhesive clips each time is simply ridiculous as an option. Given the potential damage than can occur from the suction cup coming off the iPhone, and having three brand new suction cups all behaving in exactly the same way within hours of them being opened, I'll be avoiding anything that appears even vaguely the same as this product.
Just for reference, I tested with my iPhone completely stationary and no vibration. The suction cups wouldn't stay attached for more than 45-60 mins each time after the first time, which managed about 90 mins.

I'm assuming you followed the illustrated instructions above and still had problems? If so, we apologize that you had a bad experience. As for having to buy additional devices, that should not be necessary, since the suction cup and adhesive clips are always sold together - either as part of the Gorillamobile product, or as a bundled accessory kit. -
Inappropriate?I returned mine for a refund. I'm glad that Joby at least had the decency to allow me to return the product.

Inappropriate? The problem is that as soon as there is any amount of dust in the air, the suction cup no longer works properly. The only way to fix it is cleaning the suction cup (and to be safe, the back of the iPhone) with an alcohol swab every single time, which is far from being a good solution for something I was hoping to be able to use a couple of times a day as a iPhone stand.

Inappropriate?Having read the above I have some concern in purchasing using the suction pad on my iPod Touch 2G....and the idea of having an adhesive clip permantly installed at the back of of my iPod is not ideal too.
My questions is: can the Gorilla iPhone 3G case by used with an iPod Touch 2G? This seems to be a more stable solution.
regards
Carsten
