It is now almost June,,when will the Zivio be out. I am ready to order about 40 headsets, but we are now at the point that we are looking at the Blue Ant product line.

Inappropriate?Mark, we feel your frustration.
Thank you so much for your continued interest in the Zivio. I'm actually pleased to announce that our launch is, in fact, going to happen this summer. For real!
I can't post an official launch date here right now, but I can tell you that it's basically right around the corner
If you'd like to email me directly at peter@joby.com , I would be happy to talk to you about your headset needs and what we can do to get you as many Zivios as you need, as quickly as possible.
I’m eager and hopeful.
-
Well, that's certainly your prerogative, but I think you'll be pleasantly surprised in very short order... like, say, about a week. :-) -
doctordetroit: Hope you can wait a little bit longer. I know that the folks at Joby have been working hard to get this one released. -

Great question!
We're hard at work perfecting the Zivio's performance right now, and we're shooting for a retail launch in March 2008.
So unfortunately it won't be around for this Christmas season, but at least you'll have something to look forward to in the spring!
Peter, Official Rep, replied 8 months ago
Slight revision to our earlier launch date projection: we're probably looking at a Spring 2008 launch. If all goes well, we hope to hit March, but to make sure we don't disappoint, it could be a little later in spring, too.
I’m undecided
-
Inappropriate?well...
California handsfree driving law goes into effect in 5 days.
Will this be ready? If I can't get 1 on or before July 1st, I'll be forced to order elsewhere. (maybe Jawbone 2). -
Keith, My advice would be to go for the Jawbone. I was excited about this product last year but continued missed launch dates have dramatically reduced my confidence in this company. -

Looks like we have different opinions of what a week means.
Vaporware launches are sooooo 1990's.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? That thing's not ready yet? I thought for sure it was already selling like hot cakes. Well, doctordetroit, I'd say you have a point. I know it's tough waiting. We'll see if we can't get a more firm release date for you.
-
Inappropriate? On July 1 (the last published release date), Peter quoted me July 8th release, due to a firmware update.
well the 8th has come and gone and still no ZIvio.
I honestly doubt this thing exists at all.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Mark....we appreciate your patience and frustration.... Launching a product of this kind is not an exact science. All I can tell you is it is coming soon and will be worth the wait. We have delayed the launch to refine our manufacturing processes and make improvements sugested by beta testers to the Zivio's firmware and software. You can visit www.myzivio.com now and place your order...we should start shipping units in the next couple of weeks...Regards, Phil Romero, Dir. Cutomer Service

Inappropriate?Phil:
"not an exact science"?!? The consumer is expected to purchase a complex, high energy, electronic device with potentially explosive Li-On technology, place it on their ear and be comforted with the company sponsored statement that their prodct development is "Not an Exact Science"?
For the gorilla tripod, "not an exact science" may mean the camera falls over.
For an RF based device, "not an exact science" could mean explosive battery discharge, unchecked RF emmission, electrocution, burns, hearing loss etc.
The lackadaisical attitude from Joby is simply not acceptable.
I’m speechless
-
Inappropriate?staffsgtstv,
I believe you might have misunderstood Phil's comment. Phil was referring to the commercial launch of the headset, and NOT the technical development of the product. We have taken great effort and time (obviously) to ensure a high-quality product which will hopefully not only meet, but exceed consumer expectations.
We most certainly do *not* have a lackadaisical attitude toward this product or ANY of our products. In fact, the delay of our product launch has occurred precisely because we take quality, safety and the consumer experience very seriously. We saw an opportunity to make the Zivio better still before releasing it to the public, so we've devoted extra time to doing just that.
While we can certainly understand and empathize with your frustration that the Zivio has not been made widely available to the public, we hope you can understand that the delays have been borne from a desire to release our best effort to customers and to ensure their safety and product satisfaction.
We would certainly never compromise any aspect of safety or quality just to rush a product out the door.
If you have any further questions, I invite you to contact me directly at peter@joby.com
Regards,
Peter
I’m deeply interested in ensuring good communication with our customers.

Inappropriate?Peter,
At this time you have a credibility problem. This problem is not because your products do or do not work as advertised. It is because you told the public you were going to do something, and you haven’t done it.
Your company brought a cool sounding new product to CES (the largest consumer electronics show in the nation) and said you would have it available for purchase “soon”.
You have since published several release dates and missed them all.
Your potential customers are frustrated and angry, and you haven’t even delivered the product yet. This puts you in the position of having to “re-sell” your company, your capabilities and your product.
This situation is unfortunate and frustrating, and entirely avoidable. Tell your potential customers the truth, and keep your commitments.
Keith. -
Inappropriate?I think you guys are getting a bit bent out of shape. There's a fine line between vaporware and delaying a product to improve it and maybe prevent big problems had they released it too early, or angering all the customers who bought the Rev1 only to get burned when they release Rev2 a few months later. There are so many products that are released too early because the company just wants to make money early and doesn't care if they release a sub-par product. Although I hate missed release dates as much as the next person, maybe we should just give Joby one last chance to see if they will release it this summer. I mean, they aren't as bad as Nextlink's Invisio Q7 which was delayed for some 3 years then the tech was bought by Motorola, THEN given ANOTHER release date.
I’m Indifferent

Inappropriate?I placed an order for 4 devices, but still no ship date.
-
Inappropriate?Thank you for your inquiry........to date we have only shipped units to media, press, potential retail partners, and beta testers...........Retail consumer orders should start shipping next week some time........you will not be charged until date of shipment........thank you for your papatience.

-
Inappropriate?Well there you have it, yet another release date. Let's see if they can hit this one. I'm not going to hold my breath, but i will check back on August 1st to see if they're shipping.
-
Inappropriate?Phil, I've posted this question separately already, but haven't got a reply yet. Will the Zivio be shipped internationally or just in the U.S.? Also, it was mentioned somewhere that there'll be two different colors (black&silver and stainless steel) to chose from at the beginning. The preorder page doesn't list different models. Which version will be shipped?
-
Inappropriate?Hello Mark,
Initially the Zivio will be available in North America only. There are eventual plans to make the Zivio available internationally, but there is no firm timetable for international sales. The only color that the Zivio will be available in at launch will be black with stainless steel trim.
Thank you for your interest in the Zivio. We look forward to having you as a valued customer.
Regards, Phil Romero, Dir. Customer Service

Inappropriate?Hey Phil,
Wow, I was googling for a headset with a boom so that I could get great sound quality on cellphone calls, then I discovered Zivio, then I discovered it not. I'd appreciate not hearing a release date. What I would appreciate hearing is that if I pre-order and am disappointed that the sound quality is no better than Jawbone, that I can return it for full refund without paying delivery or return shipping. What do you say guys?
Hopeful,
Ed
I’m interested

Are there any posted reviews yet? -
Inappropriate? The Zivio is mentioned on a couple of blogs now. Seems to be the result of the free giveaways at the BlogHer conference a couple of days ago. Google for "Zivio BlogHer"and you'll see.

Inappropriate?Thanks Mark,
I'm sure a lot of consumers will be happy when the Joby product is available. I'm sad I didn't hear from staff, but you're awesome. -
Hi Ed,
It's true we've been seeding a small amount of Zivios to beta testers and some press/bloggers. We genuinely are trying to get the Zivio in the hands of customers as soon as practicably possible, and we'll be sure to let you all know the instant it becomes available for purchase.
Thanks for your patience.
