Karmic == "unsupported" or "bad idea"?

Is switching from Jaunty to Karmic merely "unsupported" or is it a bad idea? In other words, what are the odds that I'll find dependency/compatibility issues were I to switch repos?

I did set up my netbook to be dual-boot (both Jolicloud) so that I can have one install I use and one install I can tinker with. But I'm curious as to what the official word is on this subject.
