The Jolicloud app install screen should definitely be the interface for the entire OS. It's much more elegant than the UNR home app, and it would help blur the line between web apps and desktop apps.

I admit that I was a little dissapointed that JC seemed to be nothing more than just a refluffed version of UNR. Without the JC screen, it seems like it doesn't offer anything except an extremely limited about of apps in the store, most of which are web apps (useless if you're away from a wifi or 3G signal)
What I'd like to see is the ability to bypass the UNR launcher entirely, booting straight into the JC home screen. A few minor tweaks would make the applications tab much more useful.
At the moment, clicking on a programs icon shows an "about" screen where you can read some info and click install. Once the program is installed, clicking on the program icon should instead load the program.
A button near the top should allow you to switch between Installed Apps (Default) - "App Store" - All Apps and back again. This would solve the problem kregerator identified above.
I'd also like to see an in-JC file browser under its own tab (IE "My Files") that's integrated into the look and feel of the JC home screen.
These tweaks would give JC something truly unique and in the growing number of UNR derivatives, uniqueness is what is going to make JC stand out.

i thought this at first too since the jolicloud screen looks so nice. but i think it would only really be useful if there was a different tab for only installed apps. as the app lists grow, the jolicloud app screens will get longer and you wouldn't want to search through those to launch your apps. i like launching from the home screen favorites tab now that i'm used to it. (took me 4 hrs to get used to it). once things are loaded, you can just alt-tab through what's open and you don't end up interacting with the home screen much.

Inappropriate?I enjoy the UNR base of jolicloud but being able to launch apps from the my jolicloud screen or a similar layout would be sweet.
I’m excited

Inappropriate?Well the idea of JC, is basicly to provide a Netbook OS, you may be right about the similarity to UNR, but dont forget that can be an advantage too, you still can download apps directly from the terminal if you dont like the apps from 'myJolicloud' screen but I agree with some of your ideas; the thing is we cant expect this to be another Ubuntu, if you like Ubuntu, then use it; JC is a netbook OS and you will need an internet conection, that's the basic idea of the netbook: portability + Cloud Computing.
And I agree completely with the idea of uniqueness is the only way this OS survive, because today there are a lot of Linux Distros, and also think that the developers should make a little more effort in details, because JC have great Potential. -

Inappropriate?I got on here just so I could suggest this. I think it's so stupid to go back to the home page to launch my apps. It makes me feel like Jolicloud is just an application running ontop of UNR. The Jolicloud GUI is so much sexier than the UNR one. Other than that, I love jolicloud!
I’m concerned

Inappropriate?I too tried for ages to work out how to launch my newly-installed apps from the Jolicloud home screen. A tab named 'Installed Apps' or 'My Apps' would be the best solution in my opinion. Having to go back to the UNR launcher to run an app is a bit of a pain.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Agreed. #1 problem with Joli. The UNR interface should never be seen (and the first step is launching apps from a 'my apps' type tab.
I must also say that I am very frustrated with the unresponsiveness of those working on Jolicloud. I sent a very detailed e-mail to an address that was supposed to be for feedback and never received so much as a 'thank you' reply. I spent a lot of time trying to be a part of a community of people who wanted to improve this thing.
Compatibility is important, but if you spend all of your time on it then all you will have is a half-baked product capable of running on a lot of hardware.
Google will be competing with Joli in what I assume to be a BIG way -- so make it count.
I’m frustrated.

Inappropriate? As far as I can tell Jolicloud is an apps installer and not an OS, its not even a Skin of an OS.
The fact that it puts more weight on viewing what other users are installing on their computers, rather than actually using the computer shows a massive flaw in this distro.
I’m feeling sorry for the coders.

Inappropriate?Im running an hp mini 110 and the UNR launcher is pitifully slow. The above solutions would really help. Also is there any reason as to why this would be running slow?
I’m frustrated
