There should be a utility to create custom Prism web applications.
I think there should be an easier, more obvious way of creating custom apps with Prism. Currently, you have to search for prism using alt+f2 and entering in "prism", to create the app, and then just to put it on the menu, you have to make use of a custom command (by more or less copying one from the other web applications, and editing it to make sure it references your own app, which involves peeking in a hidden folder in your home directory).
I'd like to see an easier way of doing this, such as adding a modified version of the prism app creator, that puts the shortcut on the menu, instead of the desktop. Either built into a firefox plugin, or as a standalone application on the menu, under favorites (the latter would be better). I think this would make Jolicloud something very unique, and set it apart from many other cloud OSes, and offer functionality and customizability better than maybe even Google's new Chrome OS. It would basically turn web developers into software developers - something I would personally love, being a budding web developer myself.
Maybe this could be called: "Jolicloud Create"? ;)

Inappropriate?would be great to have a customized prims plugin default installed in firefox.
We could have a menu entry in tools -> make this page an App
The plugin should perform usual stuff but also permit to set where the Apps should appear in jolicloud home.
As a second idea, plugin could have an option to share this app in jolicloud repository.

this is one of the best points

Inappropriate?Well, there is a firefox plugin to make prism apps, but it isn't fully compatible with Jolicloud. I almost did suggest that, but I went against it as it would be easier to find as a standalone application in the menu. I do like the idea about the app sharing though.

Inappropriate?+1
This is an *excellent* idea. I was actually a little surprised something like it wasn't available by default.

Inappropriate? There is. Launch 'Prism' and edit as you see fit for your webapp.

If you would actually read the first post, you would realize that I know that already. I want a simpler, more obvious way to do it. -
Inappropriate?how about submitting to the JoliCloud for inclusion ;)

Inappropriate?Yes i love the idea of sharing Prism Apps too. The App Range will grow immense without work of the developers...we (users) just need a "Create Prism App" App...pleeaaasseee...

Inappropriate?I find the easiest way to create a Prism App is to use Google Chrome browser to go to the site to be App'd and just select "create application shortcuts" this version adds the possibility to create shortcut on desktop and or create shortcut on application menu which puts the shortcut on the Internet page of the launcher. So far it works very well, the most recent addition I made was to add www.photoshop.com. It works perfectly. I thoroughly recommend it.

That's not a Prism App. Prism is a Mozilla Firefox product. Both are desktop apps, however. -
Inappropriate?I think it should also be much easier to install add ons into Prism apps. Currently you have to manually take ownership and configure the webapp.ini file present in /usr/share/prism/whateveritis. It would be nice to be able to enable the statusbar easily in any webapp to be able to access the tools and add ons menu. I, personally, installed the Google Redesigned add on in Gmail and Calendar, and it matches the Jolicloud UI quite well.
