CarCare "forgets" certain fields in entries.
I downloaded CarCare last week and started putting data in from my paper records.
I've found that a lot of the information I enter is forgotten by the program. It always happens in the same fields (notes and date in entries) and usually in particular entries. I will make a few new entries (or edit existing ones this has already happened to), hit 'save,' but then the next time I open the program the notes field will be blank and the date field will revert to the old date (that is, the date I created the entry, not the date I specified the maintenance event occured).
In addition to the date and note fields in the entries, this happens to the 'car info' fields. I'll enter my car info, then the next time I enter the program the fields will be blank.
It doesn't seem to matter whether I enter the data by hand or import it through the web. I've tried power-cycling the iPhone, updating the software and even deleting/re-installing.
Any ideas? This has become very frustrating because I like some of the features not available in CarCubby.

Inappropriate?Hello Dan,
I am not sure what is happening with this, but I wonder if it may be related to a low memory situation? How many entries do you have input for each vehicle?
Have you experienced this with versions prior to 1.22, or just since you've upgraded to 1.22?
Thanks for the details about it being the notes and date, since that can help me focus on the problem.
Which car info fields are getting wiped? All of them, or only certain specific ones?
I want to address your problem and fix any potential bug in the app, so let's work together to fix this! -
Inappropriate?Thanks for the rapid response!
I have 36 entries on one vehicle; I have started another vehicle but haven't made any entries.
The car fields that are getting wiped are the insurance number, VIN, and less often the model and the year (a couple times I'll load the program and it will have the default graphic for one of the vehicles but no text because it forgot the year, make and model).
The data loss seems to happen when I leave the program or when I start it up. If I go through and correct the problem entries, hitting 'save,' then navigate elsewhere within Carcare before going back, the entries will still be correct. But if I go check my email or work elsewhere in the iPhone all those entries will be dated 'January 11' when I come back with their notes cleared.
One thing I just noticed. On one of the affected entries I originally entered the mileage wrong: I entered 125000 instead of 120500. When I re-enter the note and the date I also correct the mileage; but alas, that too reverts to the original incorrect value when the date and note disappears.
Some of the time it works--I will come back in the program and some of the entries I've modified will have stuck. Since I've been through it a few times maybe 3/4 of my fields are now working; but if I want new ones to be remembered I might have to go through 4 or 5 tries. It doesn't appear to me that individual entries are corrupt because if I delete them and add new ones the same thing happens.
The phone is still pretty new and I don't have a lot on it. The storage is only about 20% full. I'm not playing SimCity or anything like that! I downloaded Carcare from iTunes last Sunday. It started happening immediately so I deleted and re-downloaded the software that evening. I updated the software today to no effect.
I've also added maybe a half-dozen maintenance tasks to the list specific for my diesel car and modified the fuel types so I can choose different biodiesel blends instead of gasoline octanes, but since these are meant to be user-editable I can't imagine that has anything to do with it? -
I have 42 fuel only entries. Last weekend I tried adding comments in the Notes field but despite re-entering them twice, the last 7 entries keep dropping the notes. -
Inappropriate?Aha, you have given at least one good clue in there... you modify an entry, it saves it properly before you exit the app, and then when you exit the app and come back, if the date and note are gone then the mileage is not gone, but it is changed to the original value. This helps me think about what may be going wrong... though I'm not totally sure yet.
The modified fuel types, maintenance tasks, etc should have no impact on the strange behavior you are seeing.
Thanks for your thorough description, and patience as a workaround or a solution is found - I will be sure to post back on here as I get it. It must be a fairly spotty problem, since I have not heard too many people report this issue, and I personally have not yet experienced it...
