Authentication problem on linux
Hi,
I'm trying to run the klinkr app on linux. It starts up and displays a window "Enter your Plazes credentials", and without any further input from me, shortly afterwards pops up a dialog window with an ssl certificate warning. The warning allows to trust the server for "This Session", or "Never". Clicking on "This Session" closes the dialog box and updates the login form with "Could not authenticate you, try again" next to the form (I haven't done anything yet in that app window). Subsequently, filling out username til and my secret password, and hitting 'Go', results in the authentication error again.
Below is the output on the console:
~/plazes_3rd_party $ adobe-air klinkr-166.air
adobe-air: Extracting application to directory: /tmp/adobeair.QLQmwWGPsg
adobe-air: Attempting to start application
Getting me and my friends...
IOError [IOErrorEvent type="ioError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Error #2032" errorID=2032]
Getting me and my friends...
IOError [IOErrorEvent type="ioError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Error #2032" errorID=2032]
The adobe air version that I'm running seems to be:
adobe-air a1_033108-3
First: it's good that it is using SSL. Plazes.com has a valid ssl certificate from equifax, so that shouldn't produce a warning, but maybe there is a problem with the linux package of adobe air. Could that be the reason for the authentication failure? I'm sure that my username and password are correct.

Unfortunately, the 'encrypted local store' which we use to save user/password information and settings is not yet available for Linux. We'll have to wait for Adobe to publish a more mature version of AIR for Linux :(
I’m disappointed

Inappropriate? Please let me clarify that I am not severely 'frustrated' about this, the getsatisfaction.com interface lured me into making that emotional statement ;-)

Inappropriate? Thanks for your extensive report :)
We've just tested it and we get the same problem. There are three things going on here:
1. The certificate warning seems to be an AIR problem, unfortunately.
2. The immediate 'could not authenticate you' warning is a small bug, on all platforms (it tries to fetch data too early)
3. Credentials don't work with linux. This is very strange problem, we'll be looking into it. -
Inappropriate? There are quite a bit of known issues for AIR on Linux and AIR for Linux is still in beta. We'll see if we can fix klinkr on Linux though.

Inappropriate? We'll be participating in the pre-release program for the upcoming release of Adobe AIR for Linux, starting soon. That should give us (and Adobe) the opportunity to straighten all the bugs out.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?OK, thanks for the research. Waiting for a better AIR on linux then.

Inappropriate?According to a friend klinkr works fine on Linux since AIR is no longer in beta. Give it another try using the latest Adobe AIR runtime.
I’m happy
