Lack of pace of technology.
I would like to discuss the slowness of people to adopt new, useful technologies. Christmas night, we went to our local movie theater and it was packed. While we were standing in line to buy tickets, the person in front of us opened his phone, went online, bought tickets, and went to the desk to pick them up, saving him half an hour in line, at least. I immediately did the same thing. It was quick and easy. This option has been available for a long time, yet I had never used it, and hardly anyone else does. It seems odd that people would rather waste time standing in line than use technology. Why has this, and other such technological shortcuts not caught on?

Inappropriate?Good insight. I have noticed the same thing with my and others' use of the iPhone. Being connected all the time to these powerful apps should radically change our behavior - and it does, but slowly.
Clearly, our behaviors change slower than the technology. It's difficult to change what we do and how we do things. We're genetically constructed to be creatures of habit, to fear unknowns, and to resist change. Living in predictable environments and developing behaviors based on only consistent stimuli helped our ancestors survive. With technology out-pacing our willingness to adjust as individuals, this human tendency seems quaint, and since each of us adapt at different speeds, it appears incongruous.
