Feature request for Kalculator
How about allowing one to edit what one types? Right now, Kalculator requires me to erase all the way back to the figure I want to change. Would be a lot nicer if Kalculator took advantage of iPhone's magnified insertion point feature.

Inappropriate?Hi Bill,
Great to hear your feedback. This feature is something we debated about a lot. Here's what happens: The loupe is actually part of the keyboard and can only be invoked once the keyboard is activated. We had to make a tough choice, to allow the loupe but have a pop up keyboard come into the screen(like the image included) or simply like it is now.
We are still investigating ways to call that feature without the keyboard, to make it friendlier and more predictable.
Do you mind the keyboard popping up and hiding after your done editing? What do you suggest?
I am all ears and committed to your satisfaction. Apart from that, are there any other features you'd like to see in the upcomming release?
thanks,
Jonathan
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Jonathan,
Point well taken about the loupe invoking the keyboard.
My sense is that if there's no other way to correct a character in the middle of an expression, then you'll have to settle for the loupe and keyboard. Even though invoking the keyboard would be awkward in Kalculator, it would still be far less of a nuisance than having to retype everything after the correction.
Is it at least possible to bring up the keyboard in "number" mode?
Sorry that Apple has made this so difficult for you. They need to include a loupe as part of "calculator-style" keypads. I don't suppose there's a way for developers to make feature requests of Apple?

P.S. Did you mean to attach the screen shot to your reply?

Inappropriate? Is this idea dead? I saw your last post on the issue is from 3 months ago Jonathan? It's a great app but it's definitely problematic not being able to edit in magnifying glass fashion, but it's understood considering Apples limitations for developers. Thanks for working on it. Can you give me an update on this issue please?
I’m feeling groovy

Inappropriate?Hi
We are actually working on v1.5 which adds the some more functionality, but still not solution on the lupe issue. I will investigate this issue asap and see what we can do.
btw: what do you think of the pop keyboard for editing: http://img.skitch.com/20080909-xrwm2t...
that could be done rather quickly.
thanks for your feedback -
Inappropriate?Thanks Jonathan.
I looked at the pop up keyboard earlier, and although it's not ideal, it would provide a partial solution for the editing issue. Works for me, although it might seem slightly odd initially I think it's a worth while solution at this point. Great job thus far. Glad to hear that the app is still in active development.
