PvP Arena
As a solution to the PvP problem, would it possible to set up a PvP only area on each map. For instance, if you want to PvP, go to the arena on the map and PvP there. This would work well as it would stop people from being killed while they are offline, low health or questing.
I would love to play a class other than cleric but I can't due to the amount of times I was repeatedly attacked. I think PvP would be much better received if it was an option, rather than a requirement.
PS - A PvP arena would also give the ability of varied PvP options. (ie. Team battles instead of 1v1)

Inappropriate?Can we hurry up a PvP solution I'm getting really fucking sick and tired of being hit my GM's I don't PvP and i have no PvP title and GM's are hitting me. I have put money into this game, and its really getting aggrivating randomly getting hit by them for no fucking reason. you should make PVP optional or area specific.

Inappropriate?I've heard this response time and time again. Cheats are being exploited and constant pvp barrage is forcing players out of the game. For one thing you have to use a stone of change to change to cleric it isn't an option at the point of initial character creation. And quite simply stated cheats and pvp exploits should not be determining what character a player can and can not use. Personally I'm about fed up with the game. So if the developers want a few thousand accounts set up by a hundred or so players they can have at it. But the game will always be screwed and cheating power gamers will always chase honest players out of the game if it stands this way forever. Sorry Dave, you had a chance to correct this crap. You said you had. I say we fair players create a boycott and withhold any further funding as well as discouraging fellow gamers from sending funding until this is addressed.

Honest? If you put your time more in game than in forum MAYBE you can be a great pvper too. You not a player, you are just a whiner. You can't master the game that is why you whine in forum. And certainly your not even qualify to comment in forum with your gaming experience in gear quest. You are just a nobody, no contribution, no skills, nothing! Even Omegaex is able to exploit the bug to get Grandmaster which shows he has a brain and which you do not even possess.
In all MMORPG people are getting PVPed all the time. DEV is already considerate enough to put a class which is not interacting in PVP activities. More players will be quitting when they do not see any fun in PVP arena if there is no1 active in it. If you do not wish to be hit go cleric, it not get out from the forum and master the game.
Gosh, you people really talk more than play. If you are able to master the game and complain in forum i will be the 1 to STFU. But too bad your PVP rank and Level and just jokes. -

I got to grandmaster, now I'm no pvp rank and could care less. Pvp is dull, and luck based, there is no mastery.. it's only try try try until you get a lucky hit. Anyone that is attackable can be killed, it takes 0 skill. -

Perhaps a pvp arena would allow for better pvp dynamics -> permitting some skill/timing/dedication to be incorporated into winning pvp battles.
Going Cleric is an obvious choice for players who like to quest and not be bothered with attacks - I don't want to see a pvp arena just so people can choose a time and place for pvp - rather I feel a pvp arena could enrich the game immensly. -

Dave, fix PvP issues because PvP is a fairly large reason for people leaving. I fight a boss i get attacked i sit around i get attacked. I'm sorry i don't want to sit around with 10 energy and 800 def. i want to sit in energy or attack gear. Turtling is retarded. You don't get killed from PvP big deal, meanwhile you don't save up any energy and if you get attacked you automatically lose... not my idea of fun.

Get your facts right, people are start leaving as there is no more fun in PVP anymore. There are no new attack gear to advance to is also another main reason people left the game.
If you cant take the heat of PVP, either turn cleric or you can go play maple story.
Defense gear are made for such reason and that is why people tend to hunt for the best or purchase it to stay alive. There is no such thing as turtling. If you can't manage your character well then you are just another retard and stop complaining in the forum! -
I have to say that I think there are far more players who don't pvp at all than pvp alot, so I believe you are in the minority. I'm more in the middle because I guess I'm someone who just does it some. I wish there was some challenge to it instead of just try try until someone flees or dies. At least when I go into the arena after it's made I'll hit the people who won't get upset when they get hit. -
I used to play maple story.. at least if that was PvP you could try to dodge and it would take some sort of skill... alot of people don't PvP. I'm sorry you cant get any enjoyment out of this game besides killing someone for a whopping 1 XP. I would rather just leave my energy gear on and use that to level. plus there is such a think as turtling. People just just into an attack suite for 10 seconds to hit you then swap back into their super defense items. -
So this is the time for you to prove you are far more superior than others by retaliate them on their super def. I killed a player in 1012 armor before. So if i can do it, any out there is able to do the same too. it all depend how much effort and experienced you put into the game. There is no def that is not able to break. -
No shit dude, i've killed someone with 700+ def before myself. The problem is i don't want any part of PvP as it is. It is stupid and pointless and just a complete aggravation. Maybe if there was more then luck involved it would be better. -
yeah we weren't saying it was imporrible to kill someone with high armor, it's all about lucky timing getting an oppertunity hit. It's a different thing if you don't have that skill though. -
Lucky does come in for hits in GQ which i am need to agree with. But how to get it often to crit much requires skills too. What gear to wear on wat situation, What stat to add, what gear to change when fighting someone on attack gear and he/she is online. All these require skills which need a lot in experienced. I dare not say I am very professional in it but I do master it well and only 2 deaths occured to me for the past 4 months. -
we are too big for most pf the pvp people to hit me and you leord :) and I can't remember the last time I even gave a shot at killing you, but I've gotten you a time or two in the past. -
I know, but i got my experienced rank when i was at lv24 and by then there were alot of player trying to get me down. 1 death was by idemon and 1 more is by you. But i had made over 150 kills since then. And do recall how i retaliate when you were in attack gear. Those require skills and calculation, estimating the time you launch and attack and the time available for me to attack back and get enough def before you counter back. It is not just a click and wait scenario :) ( Delete or Edit for 15 minutes ) -
When I was doing it fairly seriously (which I got bored of after like a week) I'd just open 8 tabs to each person I was going to fight so all my attacks could be within a few seconds and then I'd change my gear back to defense before you'd even get the notification I attacked you. Doesn't take any skill at all. If you hit me in attack gear, I wasn't trying very hard not to be hit. -

Inappropriate?Reading posts on PvP topics, PvP will have to be refined.. I'm thinking more "counter" items.. e.g. an item could negate the effect of someone else turtling up.. could slow down their agility, etc. The apothecary will help there too.
I know people personally who have left the game because of constant attacks.. which won't do. Everyone will just be whingeing and wingeing until it's dead. The PvP arena was meant to be a solution, but that's turned into rather a big project. I think until then, I'll add a PvP switch which takes 12 hours or so to fully change.. that way people can't attack and then switch off. What do you all think? -
Dave, remember mafia cities? People went into sleep mode for 8 hours, meaning they were not able to be attacked, hitlisted (which might be nice to implement), or killed in anyway. It helped when people were sleeping in the 'real world'. I think that's kind of what your talking about doing here. I dont see why it wouldn't be a bad idea, but give ppl the option to withdraw from sleep mode. I think all other functionalities should be available, e.g. auctioning etc. It'll give people a chance to defend themselves while not online.
As for the PVP system itself, I don't think your going to satisfy everyone, people like to kill, people like being able to kill, people like not being killed, people like the ability not to be killed - but this is what happens when you introduce fighting into a game. Take Mafia wars for instance, one of the biggest games around on FB... it has fighting etc, do you really think they get half the complaints? Lol. And on there, they dont even have the chance of changing class to not being involved in the PVP system. I think the only way around it is to give clerics an opportunity spell lasting say 20mins. If people dont like PVP, go Cleric and now your get the hits you want on bosses.
If you like PVP, dont change....!!! But please, sort out the stats of the diamond axe, its crazy that the 2 daggers still hit more on a normal uncritical hit based on the stats!!! -
i like the idea Dave, but personally, i think the agility aspect is rubbish. I have much higher agility than many others, but very rarely manage to have that help in pvp...with people still hitting me regularly, rather than me evade their hits. As Wylin pointed out earlier, it still appears to be "LUCK" rather than our actual stats that generate wins or losses in pvp.
If you are going to add things like that, then the all the stats (including bonuses for team numbers) need to be tweaked first, or they will be useless. -
oh, and I should have added...there is no apparent increase in chance of critical hits with extra agility either...not just evade. -

It's to bad things have to come to this I hope when the pvp area is introduced there will be a good reason to interest more people in pvp at that point....some kind of reward system not having to do with rank would be nice maybe team battles as opposed to one on one or ganging.....(I believe this is hard issue without a clear and perfect answer to all...) Inappropriate?I think first anyone under level 10 should not be able to pvp, then a pvp quest(with a reward of some type of bonus to stats/skills/spells/something) could be added(optional to complete) at level 10.
If someone completes the quest they would then be in the pvp game, but I also think at certain points they should be allowed to opt back out, and lose whatever bonuses they had gained. And the person should be able to chose to be able to go back and forth but maybe always make them stay with what they picked for like 3days or a week.
Also, if the game implemented pvp rules similar to the pvp rules the top guilds have in place (no killing the same person more than once per 24 hours, limiting the amount of attacks on an individual per 24 hours to a stamina load, no gang attacking) this would also help people not feel like they are being targeted.
I think Multi-accounts are also totally ruining the game, and they really need to be dealt with. PvP is a major area that alts come into play. Some days lately I've been so disgusted/frustrated with what is let slide that I haven't really been playing anymore. -

Dave, there is no armor that impossible to be pierced, i pierced a 1012 armor before and if i am capable to do it, i believe other are too, depends on how much effort you calculated the stat of your character.
If gear switching is modified what is the point of having def gear available in the game, they will be useless. Every MMOPRG do introduce attack/defend gear. This is for players to master in owning and surviving. What is the point of no survivability for a PVP player. More will leave as they find PVP is made to satisfied a certain number of people.
By the way, lot of player left the game as lack of update and new gears introduce to the game. As i am a lv43 now, what i log in everyday is just to hit Agamemnon and i have already obtain a max multi layered chest, which means other than blind leveling there is nothing much for me to accomplish anymore. This is the main reason why hardcore top level player left the game, professional players do not complain of being getting hits, only sissy do. They will find ways how to enhance themselves to get a revenge and not whine in the forum
Cleric class was made perfect for players that do not wish to PVP, If a player choose not to be PVP and not to be a cleric this is their own bloody problem, I am sick of listening to people keep on complaining about being hit. So if they choose to be stubborn then they should face the own consequences. Dave why do you need to comply to these selfish group of people.

Inappropriate?Wylin, no offense, quite a big number of your brute do not even cap lv10 and tons more are not even lv20. Besides that quite number of active players from Brute left and new smaller guilds are created that is why the active number drop severely. Some players might create alt and place them into Brute, which will make the number larger.
Please do look at players like Kevin, Keldon, Aurore, Lee, Crysasis, Sausage and many more high level active players we played with or way cap our level left. They left with the reason I mention.
Quite a number of players are still in 1st map like Aegon and Eilisy which make Underworld boring and no challenge at all.
So Dave the main point is please get updates to attach more people and not wasting time bother issue of small number of selfish players. -

I think we should focus on these thousands instead of the dozens you mentioned. Obviously Kramerly needs money so they quit focusing on games about taking care of animal poop and work on Gearquest. More players=more money. -

Yes PVP is an issue for some players and needs to be addressed.
No questers should not be forced to play a cleric just to avoid PVP. That is a cop out.
The issue raised near the top of this page is that questers are sick of getting into a attack run against a boss and getting hammered in the middle of it by a pvper often when they have taken a few hits from the boss and are already at low health. It's frustrating as all hell AND IT"S NOT PVP. It's getting stabbed in the back and any decent pvp player knows it's a weak kill without skill or honour.
The hammering of new players by alts for pvp ranking is also a major problem in this game and the fact is IT"S COSTING KRAMALEY PLAYERS AND MONEY. It needs to be addressed URGENTLY. I have mentioned it in previous threads and offered possible solutions (Wylin has offered another in this thread). At the very least new players need to be protected until AT LEAST level 10 and educated by the the game as to how pvp works and the fact that they will need to expect it and prepare for it. Often players quit before they have joined a guild and gotten advice and assistance or it's too late and they are already having negative thoughts about the game.
Kramaley of your new players are negatively affected too often early in the game then kiss them and their cash good- bye. FIX IT.
Here is a thought in regards to Shawn's issue re backstabbing while in Boss fights.
Block it. If a player is involved in a boss fight then he is automatically immune from PVP until that fight ends.
BUT and here's the important part if a player INITIATES a PVP attack at any time he is IMMEDIATELY marked as wanted and cannot be immunized for 24 hours. Questers can get on with questing which is what they enjoy. Players who do both will know the risk they take and serious PVPer's deal with it cos they tough guys and can handle it right. :)
As to the topic that started this pitiful excuse of a thread (yeah I'm still a little pissed) Dave has said that it's a major job so fair enough. Personally I would prefer to see more varied content for the middle and upper levels. More mini quests, apothecary, blacksmith and additions that have already been mentioned in other threads but can't be grouped easily, stickied, made Official, moderated or even edited in this... here we go again... wait for it lol. Pitiful excuse for a forum.

I do not think players should be protected from levels 1 to 10. Its part of the game, deal with it. There are no games on facebook the have that rule. It also offers the opportunity to gain a little xp and gold while levelling in the lower levels. I do not believe that PVP is the real problem in GQ, i believe it is keeping players interested. There does need to be more mini quests, other possibilities of gaining xp etc, and its coming to an end for higher level players. At the end of the day, Dave if you want GQ to be successful, it needs to be developed further.... dont get me wrong, its a fantastic game... close to perfection, but the releases need alot more development. -

Inappropriate?What about giving all classes the same ability as the cleric? If they attack other players they are vulnerable to attack for however long. Then only players who take part in pvp or at least have attacked another player can be attacked. And likewise if you attack you can only choose players who have pvp'd within said time frame.

I actually like pvp. I have added at least half of my army this way. I don't normally get people that attack me just a little, I get people that really give me a whooping. Which is why I add them to my army. Most people don't know it's me that they are adding. -

I agree Newbie protection is key. More protection = more players = more fun for all = more money for devs.
A small semi-related note -> It seems to me that it was only when the "accomplishments" were added that people started up multiple new characters to get the 1000kills. I like having accomplishments around, however it just goes to show you that people will always take any idea or new game aspect and find a way to abuse the system to meet some new gaming need. -

For me its more on gears that we are wearing. The basic element for this game (for me) are only 2 that is attacking and defending. So, banning PvP or the PvPing can only done on a certain place is out of question. THis is a text based game, its not a physical apperance game that use physics as core. They use math and probabilities for the game formula.
First of all, i want to state that, if the DEV actually pull out the PVP system from this game or make a place where people can PvP (or should i say arena), it will remove half of the purpose on making this game.

- Here i want to state that, the DeV generously make this to give you an option so that you can/will never have a problem with PvP yet you say its waste of money. I hate to say this but alot of people who actually pay to play this game loves to battle. You hardly saw a GM who get less than atlease 20 kill(I say hardly not none of). Plus, a game need money to run.
2. I like to turtle around without changing my gear
-This is GEARQUEST, my friend. The purpose of the game is that people change gear throughout the game. The designer actually thought of this as the game element, if he remove it from the game, how will this game turn out to be?

I do agree on protection for noobs. That is a must. Even normal 3D MMO games give protection for noobs. Even WoW make it. Not that we saw it, but the game flow itself tell us. A neutral territory quest has been set for level 10 and above.
I also agree with the opinion on blocking any outside attack while players currently battling bosses. And like he say, imunity need to be given if the player are currently FIGHTING the boss. This can be done easily. When the player been ATTACK(miss is counted) by the boss, he will immune by any attack from other players for at lease 8 minutes. But, if the player attack the other player, the immunity will break.
But I don't agree with the point when a player attack another player, they will lose their immunity. I don't want to elaborate because this will bring more bad things than good in the long run. Please believe me on this. Even if I tell, you guys wont believe me but it will happen eventually.
