TiVo shortcut not working
I just signed up with kwiry & set up the link to my TiVo. I tried testing it by texting to kwiry requests for tivo to record shows known to be airing soon, but consistently get the error message back (via sms and email) that there was an error in trying to schedule the recordings (& thus they - presumably - were not scheduled). Any guesses as to what's going wrong? Nothing wrong with my Tivo, etc.

Inappropriate?Hi Steven,
It looks like there's an issue with the channels numbers that are being brought back in your Tivo listings. I'm seeing 20-1 and 36-1. Are the correct channels 20 and 36 or 201 and 361?
I'm forwarding the issue to Tivo so hopefully we'll have a resolution soon. -
20-1 and 36-1 are the correct channels - they're over-the-air HD stations. - Steve -
Inappropriate?Hi Steve - sorry about this. We're working with TiVo to try to figure out the issue, but it's related to the "-" in your over-the-air HD channels. Have you successfully scheduled on one of those channels at www.tivo.com? Can you try that and let us know what happens? thanks!

Inappropriate?Scheduling via the TiVo unit itself always has and continues to work properly. In the past, has worked properly via TiVo.com as well but I'll test it out again ASAP.

Inappropriate?Steven,
We think that the problem has been resolved. Can you try scheduling a show when you get a chance? Thanks. -
Inappropriate? It DID schedule, and I did get confirmation texts end emails from both Kwiry and TiVo Central Online as I was supposed to. However, there was something unusual in TiVo Central Online's confirmation email; please read on -
My TiVo is an HD one. It will automatically record HD programs *IN* HD. It is set to record all STANDARD definition programs at "Best" Quality. Recordings scheduled directly via the TiVo Central Online website in my TiVo.com account default to "Record at my dvr's default setting" (or something to that effect). My KWIRY account is set to "Default record at HD" (or something to that effect).
My test involved texting Kwiry as follows"tivo ellen". The Kwiry text/email response I got was that the Ellen Degeneres show of 1/30 would record on channel 20-1 (CORRECTLY SO). That program on that channel is an HD program, and is correctly listed as such in TiVo Central's program guide.
BUT - the confirmation email that I got from TiVo Central Online said that the program would be recorded (on correct day and channel) at "MEDIUM" quality. Makes no sense!
Any ideas??? -
FYI - I then deleted (directly on my TiVo unit) that test scheduled recording in my TiVo's "To Do List". I then went onto TiVo Central Online to RE-schedule it to see if the problem might be with TiVo Central Online and not Kwiry. However, the confirmation I received from TiVo Central Online THIS time said it would record "at my dvr's default setting" (as it should).
MY guess is that the original error in TiVo Central's first email confirmation to me had something to do with the fact that in the settings for Kwiry's TiVo shortcut there is no "Record at dvr's default setting" as there is on TiVo Central Online - you have only HD (which is unnecessary, as all HD programs MUST be recorded on all HD TiVo's IN HD - this is NOT adjustable), followed by the SD recording quality options.
Maybe the "fix" would be for you guys to drop the "default record in HD" (as it is a useless setting) and substitute it with "Use dvr's defaultv setting" instead, as TiVo Central Online does?
Just a thought.

Inappropriate?Steve,
The "recording quality" field name in the kwiry-Tivo settings is actually a misnomer (which we're about to fix). The flag lets the user specify whether they'd like to have the SD or HD broadcast of the show recorded by default (eg: channel 2 vs 702), not the actual recording quality.
But you're right that all the shows seem to be scheduled as "Medium" quality instead of "Device Default". We're going to have to take this up with Tivo again as we're passing them the appropriate values.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I'll update you once we hear something from them.
Nabil.
