why does kwiry need to know my gender?
As far as I can tell, there should be no reason for Kwiry to ask for my gender when I sign up. Why does Kwiry ask for my gender?

Inappropriate?@faethverity sorry to hear you're annoyed by our gender question on the sign-up page. There's a few reasons we ask for it:
1. There's a social networking component to kwiry where you can add friends, etc. - it's a lot easier to find your friends/identify them and/or meet new ones when you have some basic info about them.
2. We like to better understand who our users are and how they use kwiry/ find out about our service, etc. so we can better customize and improve it and spread the word in the right/places/ways. Understanding some basics about who they are helps us do that.
3. While we don't serve any ads today, advertising is a potential revenue model to support our free service and advertisers like to know what type of audience, both generally and specifically they're paying to reach.
Again, sorry to hear it upset you, you're the first person to mention it to us. If others feel strongly about it, we'll consider making the question optional.
