Where did my warranty go?!?
I bought two X60 tablets in March of 2007 and ended up returning one soon after I purchased it (closed box return). I had also purchased an extended warranty for the one that I kept. Interestingly, that was assigned to the system that I had returned. Around March of this year I got an email saying that my warranty was expiring, when I contacted Lenovo and had them fix the issue (proof of fix in email). Apparently, it was fixed, when it really wasn't. About a week ago the battery went bad so I called for support when I was told again that I had no warranty on this system. They transferred me to the entitlement department, after explaining the whole thing to them, the person said that he would be calling me back. Two days pass, no reply, I call again, go through the same process again, then get told again that they would call back, three days pass, still no reply.
Today I called again, go through the same process once again, but this time I am told to resolve the problem through email. Now it has been more than a week since I first contacted IBM/Lenovo and I am getting really frustrated because on one really knows what to do.
This was my first Lenovo, and probably my last one. For the amount that I paid for the extended warranty I could have purchased two batteries and not had to deal with this frustration! Now I am wondering once hopefully someone fixes the warranty issue what other crap I will have to go through before my tablet will be useful again.

Inappropriate?Farhan,
I agree that the system model and serial number should be quickly updated to reflect your upgraded warranty of (3 years)?
Please note that batteries are warranted for a period of 12 months from date of purchase, so the 3 year extension will not extend your battery warranty. I thought I should provide this clarification.
If your system warranty entitlement is still unresolved, please contact me on the Lenovo forum - Mark_Lenovo http://forums.lenovo.com
I'll need you system model and serial number.
Best regards,
Mark

Inappropriate? Thanks for the quick reply, Mark. I was afraid that I would end up with that answer about the battery once the warranty issue was resolved. I guess that is OK, I will do some more research and purchase a new one.
What is weird is that the battery was lasting at least 2.5 hours the day before I started getting that message. Personally, I have never heard of the laptop battery "dying" like this. I tried the "battery recall" program and it said that this specific battery wasn't recalled. I wonder what could go wrong. The other weird thing is that the battery kept the 18% charge that it had for at least three days before it was drained to the current 1% level. So, I am wondering if replacing the battery will really fix the issue.
I have sent an email to the new email address that I was given (thinkpls_us...), let's see if they can fix the warranty issue. I will post back on the progress. Thanks again.

Inappropriate?Mark, I haven't received an acknowledgment from the email that I sent yesterday. I have posted on the Lenovo forum, can you please reply to that?

Inappropriate?Sorry, I forgot to post an update to this issue. Mark was more than helpful and took care of the issue. He also took care of the original battery problem that I was having.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate? It seems that Lenovo batteries often fail shortly after their 12 month battery warranty expires. I just had a perfectly working 9-cell battery fail 2 weeks out of warranty and see that others have the same problem, especially with the Lenovo batteries manufactured by Sanyo.
I'm still researching the issue. It would be good to collect all the known info on this problem in one place. -
Inappropriate?I purchased an extended international warranty from India... My problem is a bit different... Apparently the entitlement dept has my warranty information but the tech support people dont... So everytime the tech support people tell me to call entitlement who call back tech support to approve the request... Which takes a freaking 30 mins on the phone each time... its crazy! I sent an email to thinkpls_us@lenovo.com. am waiting for a reponse.. :(
Meanwhile I called up the warranty people in India and they say warranty is upgraded.. If someone over at warranty registration department sees this please help...
I’m frustrated
