How do I auto-tag an expense category?

I'd like to view all my expense categories grouped into 4 major groups of expense categories, so I can compare the groups; but I do not want to tag alllll those expenses. How can I do that?

Can I tag all the transactions in an expense category at one time, and have that tag automatically added to all future expenses in that category?
