Less Accounting and Freshbooks
I am using Freshbooks which links to Basecamp. I also use Highrise. How can I import my estimates/invoices from Freshbooks? I don't want to re-enter things several different times.

Inappropriate?Hey Pamela, currently we don't offer Freshbooks integration or importing. I am sorry this news doesn't help your situation. We're currently working on some major functionality and I'm hoping Q2 2009 we'll work on Freshbook integration.

Pamela, maybe I read the question wrong, it seemed you were asking to export your Freshbooks data to LessAccounting. In any regards Freshboks is a great solution for freelancers I'm sure you'll be happy with it as well. If you're needing more accounting like functions check out LessAccounting.com -
Hi Allan: Yes, what I wanted to do was import my Freshbooks invoices into Less Accounting which is the next natural financial step. Freshbooks is working great for me--a 1 1/2 person business. I do just about everything and so I am working to have a clean line of apps from contact management to project management to time tracking to accounting that all works together for the "really little guy".
With L.A., I can have Quickbooks VERY LITE (smile) which is all I need. I can keep up with my banking and credit cards, etc. without Quicken. But I don't want to have to write or keep up with invoices twice. -

I agree exactly with Pamela on how to use both. Quickbooks is too beefy. Freshbooks + Less Accounting + Basecamp and seamless integration would be ideal.

I am LOVIN' Freshbooks' integration with Basecamp and other apps. I'm learning how to work it. For now, I guess I'll manually put the invoices into Less Accounting (I'm one person so I don't have THAT many) and wait for the Freshbooks integration with Less Accounting.

I am an IT consultant and have been evaluating Less Accounting and Freshbooks for use by my clients and for myself. My situation is similar to yours, there are many really attractive reasons to invoice with Freshbooks, and aside from the Accounts Receivable function provided by Freshbooks, Less Accounting seems to meet our other accounting needs.
I don't think that the 2 programs have to be integrated. Freshbooks works perfectly well as an AR journal and will handle your invoicing and aging. When you receive payments and deposit them to your bank account they automatically show up in Less Accounting as income. My company maintains Accounts Receivables, however we do our tax reporting on a cash basis, so this works fine as is. If you report on an accrual basis you only need to manually transfer the Accounts Receivable data from Freshbooks, which is a minor adjustment.

Tarch, how does having Freshbook integration help your Less Accounting experience? We've talked about integration but we're currently busy fixing issues and making the current features better. We'll look into integration probably in late summer.

Tarch, we offer invoicing, it seems you'd be paying for two app when you only need one. If Freshbook does something in particular that you need then I can see the integrating being exactly what you need.

I think Freshbooks invoicing fits my needs much better, but for accounting, I'd prefer a more simple solution with LA rather than my current Quickbooks difficulty.

I am in a similar boat, and the one thing (for me) that Freshbooks does that LA does not is that Freshbooks integrates a timetracking tool that allows me to invoice my clients for the time spent. If LA did that, then I would not need Freshbooks. -

We already offer automated bank data and we support thousands of banks. ShoeBoxed is a nice add on but wouldn't save you anytime (unless your bank isn't supported).

That is true, however, I do have some expenses paid via cash and will not show on a statement.

Inappropriate?I'm in the same boat. I would love to use LA for everything - except you don't handle recurring billing with Linkpoint and Freshbooks does. So I'm using Freshbooks for invoicing and automatic credit card payments and looking at LA for the rest to move away from Quicken. If there were integration between Freshbooks - or - if LA had the recurring credit card feature (Paypal's nice, but I also have my own merchant account) then I wouldn't need Freshbooks at all.

Inappropriate?We have a contractor who bills us using FreshBooks twice a month. Every time he sends a bill, I create an expense in LessAccounting and enter in the details.
It would be nice if his invoice could automatically show up in LessAccounting without me having to manually enter it.

Have that contractor use LessAccounting! We have no immediate plans to integrate with freshbooks like that. Love the idea though.

Still unsure of how this would work...how does his invoice (in his account) end up in expenses (in my account)? -
Inappropriate?No we have no functionality in our app for that. I was merely saying he should have an account with us instead. If our network reaches a high enough number we'd implement that feature.

LA has no plans for a customer UI so using another system for invoicing is necessary. -

BUT-BUT-BUT they don't do bank account downloads so LA has them beat.
But without a practical Customer UI for customers to make payments and view billing history, LA is missing a big piece too.

I had a long discussion with one of LA's competitors that currently has a great Freshbooks solution. They are moving forward with transactions automation soon. We'll see who puts the winning combination together first.

Inappropriate?Freshbooks is an amazing invoicing tool...with a great timesheet, reports and customizable invoicing. We love it, and our clients love it. So we are in the market for an accompanying accounting program. Clarity is on the top with IAC-EZ, Less Accounting and Xero close behind. I agree with @netstepinc, auto transactions is a big deal, but Freshbooks integration is almost a must. I've been tracking this for quite some time and feel the LA crew does not intend for any Freshbooks integration due to their own invoicing features. I hope this isn't the case, but the question was asked about a year ago and still no movement. I would appreciate a straight answer so I can cross LA off my list or review it deeper.

No current plans to offer syncing of invoices with Freshbooks. It's a great product and we love the Freshbooks crew but it's just not something that I highly asked for.
