Standard browser keyboard shortcuts are broken

I notice that the YouVersion website has limited support for keyboard shortcuts, but the javascript function which enables this (check_keycode() in reader.js) breaks any other standard keyboard shortcuts by swallowing all keyboard events and not passing them through. For example, I can't use [command]+T to open a new tab or [command]+L to select the address bar.

I believe these events are only swallowed if the Bible reader pane has focus... seems a little inconsistent at times.
