Why does accessing the Contribs section freeze the app on a Blackberry 8830?

I downloaded the app to test on three separate Blackberry models and the 8130 and 8330 work fine, but whenever you open up the 'Contribs' page, two out of three times the app freezes and fails. To get the phone to work again I have to pull the battery.

Why is this happening?
