When I go to my contact page and select the connections tab my connections dont show up anymore, the area under the connections tab is blank. Does anyone know what the problems is???

Inappropriate?I've had this problem since the 22nd ...no help from linked in support

I also have had this same problem since around the 22nd...Linked In support has attempted to help, but to no avail. I'm using Safari on a Mac. Their solution, load FireFox. Although, I see people on this blog having issues with Macs and FireFox. -
Mark - as far as I know - this has been fixed for some time. It was some sort of a java scripting error... not sure about any mac/safari issues - I just tried it on my wifes mac using Safari 3.1.2 and it's working for me. -
Mark, Craig - I can't see the Connections on my Contacts page. I've tried disabling Javascripts etc. but to no avail. It just sits there and whirs around (says its 'processing'). -
Cannot view my connections page for linkedin. Rest of pages/sites seem to work fine. Seems to be some sort of javascript error. Any tips? -
Suddenly couple of days back I started having problems viewing my connections page for linkedin (I use IE 6). Rest of pages/sites seem to work fine. Seems to be some sort of javascript error. Any tips? -
Hi Leena - Best bet is to work it through with Linked in's tech support ... they've seen it before - but it's an issue with their end - not yours - so don't drive yourself crazy. (try searching on yourself and then viewing your connections from there as a work around - doesn't have the rolodex type interface - but allows you to see who is there anyway. -
Its working now:) -

Thanks for the tip, Craig:) ! I do hope linkedin staff fixes it soon. -

Inappropriate?Steve and Craig, thanks for your response. My problem resolved itself, when I logged in last night the connections were back. When I had the problem my screen looked more like Craig's pic, except the entire area under the connection tab was grey, the rest of the page looked normal, I had all the links on the left side and the top of the page, etc. Unfortunaly I did not make a do a print screen before it resolved. I seem to be OK now. Thanks.
-
Inappropriate?Tom - glad to hear your problem is solved ... mine unfortunately is not.
Steve - I'm still getting the same screen!
Craig -
Inappropriate?Steve - here's the latest screen .... now it just sits there and the "processing" wheel just spins...
I’m still frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Craig, I'm going to have to dig into your issue further. Not sure what's going on but it seems to be exclusive to your account.
-
Steve - I appreciate the assist - If you need anything from me - you can reach me at 727-785-5417 ... I'm up the usual net hours - from about 9am est to about 2 am... feel free to call. I haven,t ha a chance to put a protocol analyzer on the connection yet ... but I've tried 3 different computers and umpteen different browsers - all with the same result. I figured the error code and associated text are coming from your end though - so it would be just as easy for you to verify ... if you need my login/password - just let me know and give me a private email way to get it to you. -
Steve - I just posted an update to this thread. I am also experiencing the same issue as Craig. My error looks like his first screen shot - There was a problem loading your connections. Thanks, Tricia -
I just posted a thread about the same problem. Thanks! -
Inappropriate?I have this same problem with the "There was a problem loading your connections. Try to refresh the page" error. Has there been any insight to a fix?
-
Inappropriate? My screen looks just like Craig's screen. I did find a work around. If you select show contacts with new connections, the list appears containing the contacts with new connections. Then remove the check and all contacts appear. At least it is a work around.
I received a problem ticket this morning and waiting to hear from Linked In.
Steve - any updates?
Thanks -
Inappropriate?Hey Tricia - sorry to hear you have this problem as well. I'm glad you found a work around .... however it doesn't work for me - I just get the same darn" there was a problem ...refresh the page etc. message. The only way I can see my connections is to do a search on myself and then click on the connections - it then shows up as if I were looking at one of my connection's connections - kinda a pain.
Haven't heard from Linked ( Steve) for 2 weeks) or from their tech support who referrred my ticket to "engineering" on January 28th.
I get the impression that this doesn't happen much and they are in the ignore it and it will go away mode.
I’m thinking about switching to PLAXO
-
Hey Craig - sorry to hear the work-around does not work for you. I was using your work-around until I discovered this one. Curious - what operating system are you using? I am on Vista and just upgraded with SP1 last night thinking that could be causing the issue - but unfortunately it still exists.
It looks like this issue will not be addressed for a while - if at all. It sounds like something is corrupted on their end. It's amazing - with all the millions of folks on linked in, this ugly issue came our way.
Hang in there. -
Inappropriate?Hi Tricia - I've tried 3 different computers and every different Browser I have access to ... On 2 computers - the OS was XP SP3 and SP2 ... On one - I actually restored to a time that I KNOW linkedIN was working .. all to no avail. The browsers I've tried include IE, Firefox, and Chrome. I also tried on a MAC - using both Safari and Fire Fox - same results.
At one point I actually used a program called OMNIPEEK to look at the actual HTTP protocol conversation ... what I found was that the LinkedIN server just simply stopped responding... a good indicator that it's not a "client" related issue.
I would guess they have larger issues with scaling and surmise that the number of various problems associated with Linked is escalating as the number of users grow and use increases ... so they fix what they can and ignore the rest - one "statistics" site I checked indicates that their page view traffic has started to hit about 782M per month on average ( about a 35% increase over the last month) - this has got to be putting strain on their systems.
My guess is that they won't get around to "fixing" our problem until it either becomes a larger issue - or it's fixed as a byproduct of them adjusting something else..... it sucks ( for us) of course ... but that's life.
-
Thanks Craig - Oh my gosh! Thank you for doing all that research and trying to determine the root cause for this issue. Linked-In should hire you:-)
With all of the recent layoffs (me included), it is no wonder their infrastructure is strained.
Thanks again! -
Craig - In addition to Steve's response below - yeah! I also received a response from Customer Support. Looks like our postings got some attention :-)
Customer Support provided me with a non java script view of my contacts. It was personalized for me so you may want to try and get one for yourself - if you have not already received one.
Hopefully this will be resolved soon. Thanks again for your response and help!
Tricia -
Hi Tricia - the non-JS workaround seems to do the trick ... thanks for passing it on! -
Hey Craig - Glad it worked out for you. Hopefully it is a bit easier than what you were doing as a work-around, Looking forward to having this issue resolved permanently. -
Inappropriate?Update: Sorry for the delay. There are a number of bug fixes that we've had in the pipeline for a couple of weeks that, for various reasons, we've been unable to release as soon as we would have liked. This is one of them.
I'm trying to get a confirmation one way or another whether or not it will get resolved this week. I'll post another update as soon as I find out. -
Receiving this update, and hearing that LinkedIn is aware of the situation is great. Will keep tracking... thanks in advance for any future updates. -
Inappropriate? Can those of you still experiencing this problem give it another try and let me know if it's working for you now?
-
Yes, same problem as of 3:50 pm MST on 2/11/09. Using Firefox 3.0.6 on Windows XP. -
Inappropriate?I just experienced the same problem, since this afternoon. I noticed the problem just after accepting new connections.
-
Inappropriate?Hi Steve - Still the same here!
-
Inappropriate?Okay. I'll let engineering know it's still a problem.
-
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?Looks like tonight's the night. Keep your fingers crossed and let's see what tomorrow morning brings.
-
Thanks - I'll keep my fingers crossed ... -
Yes - it is still a problem for me as well. I hope engineering is able to figure this one out.
Thanks Steve! -
Inappropriate?Go ahead and give it a shot now, folks. Let me know what happens.

Steve - Problem still exists for me :-( -
Tricia, please respond to your latest Customer Service email and let them know that it is still a problem for you. -
Well Craig - it looks like I will be on this blog for a while longer. My problem still exists. It has been a pleasure teaming up with you on this one. Much success in the future! -
Tricia - hang in there - they may have to move the JS fix through multiple servers to fix everyones probs.... btw - sorry to hear you've been laid off - I'm looking for work as well. What do you do? - maybe there is some point to doing further networking? -
Hey Craig - My problem is finally solved - yeah!!! Let's hope it doesn't raise its ugly head again. So sorry to hear that you are also in a similar situation. It is tough out there right now. I still stand behind my words - Linked-in should hire you! I am in IT and based on your comments, I am assuming you may have "some", putting that mildly :-) sort of IT background as well. So help me out - What do you do? -
Hi - I'm in Sales - Networking software/hardware etc. For the last 11 years or so, I've been in what's known as the Application Delivery Space .. server load balancers, application traffic managers, application acceleration and security etc. How bout you? ( you can email me at clunt@verizon.net if you want to take this off the board :-) -
Inappropriate?I still have the problem.
-
Do you have an open ticket with LinkedIn Customer Service? If not, please go to http://linkedin.custhelp.com/ -
Inappropriate?Update: I'm told that we'll be pushing out an additional fix this afternoon that should take care of those of you still experiencing this problem.

A big thank you! My problem has been fixed! -
Whoohoo! The problem appears to be fixed from my end. I've tested under both Firefox and IE. Thanks, LinkedIn engineers, Steve and others for working on the fix and communicating about this! -
Inappropriate?I just started having this problem today, after the latest upgrade. I can only see my contacts if I click myself from one of my connection's contact list. But if I click to the "Connections" tab from my profile, I only get a gray screen.
I am using the latest versions of Firefox and Safari on a Mac.
Any help would be appreciated. ns
I’m undecided

My problem has also reappeared. Its most frustrating to run into it so often now. Hope linkedin suport does a better job of testing new code before putting it out there. -

Inappropriate?Leena - also try this - not as pretty but it works (takes the java script out of the equation)
http://www.linkedin.com/connectionsnojs -
I tried it. I only get the first page of my connections. I do get the export button back. Thanks for your post, anyways. -
Inappropriate?Nancy - don't alpha based page selection links like this show at the bottom of your page?
Page: Ada-buc Bur-Dud Ear-Hen Hoa-McK McK-Ros Rub-Wal Wei-Woo -
Inappropriate?No, they don't show. tx

Inappropriate?I also have this problem now. I cannot see my connections nor can I get any drop-down menus when sending invites, so I cannot send invites based on class or colleague, etc. Craig Lunt's solution sans java works, however, I still have the problem about sending invites (which is a big deal). I've sent emails to tech support but have yet to get anything back except an auto-reply.
-
Inappropriate?I cannot see my connections, nor can I add someone I have "worked with" as the drop down bar does not appear. I have updated Java, changed browsers, nothing works. I have a Vista Premium x64 with 8 GB,
-
Inappropriate? In case this solves someone else's issues, I just downloaded the most recent Firefox 3.0.10 update for Mac today. I can now see everything on LinkedIn fine, once again. Thanks for all your response to my original posting.

Inappropriate?my mtu setting needed to be 1500 (you have to ping the website linkedin to find out the setting), so when I checked the router setting to make sure the mtu was correct, it was disabled. All I had to do was click enable (it was already set at 1500). Now I can login to linkedin.com with no problems!
To check your router settings, you need to: just paste the ip of the router into your web browser. Linksys is usually 192.168.1.1:
http://192.168.1.1
If you don't know the ip of the router you can try clicking start-->run-->then type cmd and click "OK". In the command prompt type: ipconfig and press "Enter" on the keyboard. If there's a "gateway address" that will the the number to type after http:// in your browser.
Then you need to login....the default password is admin, leave the username blank (unless you setup a username and pw...use that). Once in, click on the advanced tab, then under filters scroll down to MTU. It should be enabled. Mine says 1500.
Hope this helps! -
Inappropriate? Thanks Mia. My issue was solved by updating my Firefox browser, back a month ago.
If I have the same problem again, I will definitely try your solution.
Thanks much,
Nancy -
Inappropriate?Disable you're antivirus/firewall and see what happens. I think this will solve your problem.
-
Inappropriate?I've narrowed down the problem to http://ad.doubleclick.net/*. Make sure to block this site in your browser and everything should be fine. Put http://www.linkedin.com as a trusted site in your firewall software.
-
Inappropriate? And 3th. Before you do any of the above make sure to delete all temp internet files, cookies, etc.
-
Inappropriate?Same problem here.
My only temporary solutions:
- Use a proxy for linkedin
Thanks for all your support
BTW I cannot reply to invitations, edit my profile... -
Inappropriate?I've had this problem for over 6 months now and it's really pretty annoying.
I'm a web developer and javascript guy, so I thought I'd help you out a little.
I'm getting these errors on most of the pages, but it's most noticable in the Connections page because it doesn't show the connections browser at all.
Here's some debug info for you on what I'm experiencing...

Inappropriate?Hi, I have the null contacts problem on my home computer. My work around for now is to search my name, click on my contacts and reach out to them that way. I have an open ticket with LinkedIn (4 months now) and have never heard from them.
