Can you add the concept of public vs private connections?

When a new connection is added, it is displayed on your profile page as well as being published on network updates. In certain circumstances I don't want all my connections knowing who I am linked to.

Can a public vs private connection concept be introduced that would allow me to hide a connection from my network? The specific example that comes to mind is when I connect to recruiters whilst looking for a new job. I don't want my current colleagues knowing that I am looking which is pretty easy to work out when that connection happens.

I would imagine the connections would be public by default, with the user having the option to 'hide' the connection when accepting it.
