Inappropriate? We discovered this problem over the weekend and thought we had it fixed. What is the exact URL are you going to? Is it bookmarked? When was the last time you experienced this?
-
It happens all the time when I am trying http://www.linkedin.com.
It sometimes gets stuck on "transfering data from static.linkedin.com" -
Inappropriate?Steve, same thing here. Just trying to get to the homepage of linkedin.com. You can contact me on twitter @dimensionmedia.
-
Maybe this can help: I noticed that that it happens with Chrome (even after deleting all cookies) but it goes to linkedin home with FF -
Inappropriate?You are 100% correct Yuval.
-
Inappropriate?Okay...so it's happening in Chrome only? Anyone else having the redirect problem using a browser other than Chrome?
-
I can tell that it works fine on both IE and FF. -
same problem with Mozilla Firefox and IE -
Inappropriate?hi,
i have solved the problem. It had to do with the proxy of our company that started filtering certain websites and that is why the same page was appearing all the time -
Inappropriate?Thanks for the update, Yuna.
-
I am still have this problem i try to delete my cookies also but still its same -
I am still have this problem i try to delete my cookies also but still its same -
Inappropriate?I am having the same problem. Using IE7 on Vista Home Premium.
After clicking "signin" the site recognizes my pc with "Welcome, (my name)" and provides my email address, prompting for my passord. After entering my password IE is blank except for "Redirecting" at the top of the browser page. IE then goes to the home page again at the web address "http://64.74.98.80/".
I have adjusted browser settings, deleted cookies, ran CCleaner, and rebooted multiple times. Still the same result. This has been the case for about 6 or 7 days now.
Any new suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks
I’m very frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Same problem here since approx. a week. I just try to go www.linkedin.com and I'm redirected to http://64.74.98.80/ . Same problem happens when I try to follow "Sign In" link.
I’m frustrated that I can't use the service
-
Inappropriate? This appears to happen for people who are using a proxy server of some sort. The only suggestion I have would be to ask your network administrator to clear the proxy cache.
-
Inappropriate? We are not using proxies and I tried to access linkedin server from different network segments and got the same problem. Here is a log of my connection:

I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Folks, take a look at http://tinyurl.com/5szvzr . There are a couple of different solutions there for you to try.
-
Inappropriate?Steve, that link doesn't seem to work (at least not for me). I am too experiencing this problem. It worked before, but now I get redirected to http://64.74.98.80. I do not use a proxy, just a router at home.
I’m frustrated, but hoping for a solution.
-
Inappropriate? What is the proper IP address www.linkedin.com should resolve to?
-
Inappropriate? On my machine, it works in Firefox and not in Chrome which leads me to believe this isn't a routing issue on the machine level. I have a dedicated IP with bellsouth ISP, no proxy server. Perhaps something to do with browser settings? Check browser settings for how it uses the internet, perhaps we'll find a clue there. I've just been using Firefox for my LinkedIn activities until this is resolved.
-
Inappropriate? In my case I get the same (non) result with IE, Firefox and Chrome. I also tried to turn my firewall off for a few seconds. It did not help.
-
Inappropriate? We've determined that this is a DNS issue and not exclusive to the use of proxy servers, firewalls, etc.
Here are the steps outlined on our customer service site for your conveinence:
If you see an IP address in the browser's URL box rather than www.linkedin.com you may need to flush the DNS cache on your computer. The DNS cache stores mappings of hostnames (like www.linkedin.com) to IP addresses, if this cache gets out of date a user can run into problems logging in. Here are methods you can use to flush the DNS cache on various platforms. After flushing the DNS cache users should close all browser windows and retry.
Windows XP:
1. Click the Microsoft Start logo in the bottom left corner of the screen.
2. Go to Run.
3. Type 'cmd'.
4. Type 'ipconfig /flushdns' in the resulting command window.
5. Hit Enter.
6. Close all browser windows and retry.
Vista:
1. Click the Microsoft Vista Start logo in the bottom left corner of the screen.
2. Click All Programs.
3. Click Accessories.
4. Right-click on Command Prompt.
5. Select Run as Administrator.
6. Type 'ipconfig /flushdns' in the resulting command window.
7. Hit Enter.
8. Close all browser windows and retry.
MacOS 10.4 (Tiger):
1. In Finder, navigate to Applications, then Utilities.
2. Run the Terminal application.
3. Type 'lookupd -flushcache'.
4. Close all browser windows and retry.
MacOS 10.5 (Leopard):
1. In Finder, navigate to Applications, then Utilities.
2. Run the Terminal application.
3. Type dscacheutil-flushcache.
4. Hit Enter.
5. Close all browser windows and retry. -
Inappropriate?Hi, i am new here, but i have the same problems.
And i want to make clear, i did all the thins you recommend here, but no any advice is helpful to this problem.
Ok, let me explain.
I am member two years of Linkedin and i have never problems with sign in on Linkedin.
In last ten days, correct date was December,5 i noticed the problems.
I always use Mozilla Firefox and i enter www.linkedin.com and everything is fine. then i enter to sign in, and after that is everything ok.
I get the page when i have ti put my e-mail address and password. I enter e-mail and passowrd and after that is problem. I get the page when it says REDIRECTING and after that i have problems, it happens nothing. That redirecting page never stops, and that is end for me.
Before, that redirecting will end in few seconds and i will be in Linkedin.
It is important that i have no weird URL http://64.74.98.80/
I see all the time www.linkedin.com but it i can not go inside in my profile after i put my e-mail and password.
I tried everything, every browser, flush the DNS cache, restart server, restart computer, shut down the firewalls, unistall many programs and always is same problem.
So, what to do now? -
Inappropriate? And i forgot to tell something maybe important.
That problems i have with my work computers and i have high speed internet connection.
But at home i have no any problem, i have a slow connection but i have no any problems to get into linkedin.
and like at work i use mozilla at home, and the settings are the same on work PC and PC at home. -
Inappropriate?Ok, now i find a difference in Mozilla settings at my home pc and work pc.
Here at home in my settings i enable cookies and on my work pc cookies are disabled.
Can someone try this, i can not , i am at home now -
Inappropriate?I tried flushingmy local DNS cache. It did not help. Could it be that my ISP need to do some flushing too?
Is it normal that you are redirected somewhere from www.linkedin.com? It doesn't help if I use the IP adress that I get when I ping linkedin.com.
By the way: not being able to access tinyurl url, above was a firewall problem. ZoneAlarm blocks the site because it is used to link to malware sites. But now the same information is available here anyway, I noticed.
Post-ittt: I tried turning cookies off and on. No difference (although I think your problem is anothe one - and in the wrong thread). -
Inappropriate? How about backrolling to an earlier version of LinkedIn, until you pinpoint the fault? I'm sure you have a procedure for that.
I’m disappointed
-
Inappropriate?By the way; is 70.42.142.20 the ip adress that linkedin.com should resolve to? If not - what is the correct adress. (I got that one from pinging www.linkedin.com)
-
Inappropriate?Erik,
i thinmk that this problem is the same, cause we can not get into linkedin, so i think this is the same problem ( maybe not) and it started about 10 days ago.
Yes, you are right, it is not cookies, i tried also.
Maybe you know what will be my problem, and how to solve it. -
Inappropriate?Just an observation: yesterday in the evening (around 20:00 GMT) I was able to login and use service. I thought problem was fixed. But today I have the same problem again.. :(
Flushing of DNS does not help. Steve, can you tell us what IP www.linkedin.com should resolve to?
-
Inappropriate? The IP address for LinkedIn is currently: 64.74.98.80
For those that tried flushing their cache and are still having isues, the problem most likely lies with the DNS at your ISP. In this case, we recommend trying OpenDNS: http://www.opendns.com/ -
Inappropriate?I adjusted browser settings, enabled and disabled cookies, flushed my pc's DNS cache, used IE7 and firefox, and I am now using OpenDNS. The problem remains.
On Tuesday night (the 16th), the linkedin site was down temporarily; I assume for maintenance. Later that night I was able to signin and navigate the site for a short time. When I attempted to make a change to my profile, I was prompted to signin again, and the redirect was back.
Based on the above comments and the variety of operating systems, browsers, networks, ISPs, and various settings, it appears the problem is with the linkedin website.
Steve, I appreciate your help, but it seems we're running out of fixes on the user side. -
Inappropriate?Update - I am able to access the linkedin mobile version from my pc without a redirect problem.
-
Inappropriate?Yes, the problem is still exist. and can somebody tell me if my problems are the same like other users.
Cause i can open www.linkedin.com, i can open sign in site, and when i get a page when i write my e-mail and password i got a redirection page and then that redirecting page never stops, and that is end for me. -
Inappropriate?Same problem here, I get redirected to http://64.74.98.80/, and no actions get me past this page.
Flushing my IP didn't work and changing to OpenDNS is not an option...
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? This morning i got no redirection to the IP. Normal functionality in the browser i had an issue in (Chrome). I'll see if this continues as a fix. Very strange - I did nothing on my end.
-
Inappropriate?Hey,
the problem is not solved, i have still same problem .
Can anyone help or if someone solve, how? -
Inappropriate?Hi, I followed my ISP's advice and restarted of my router/Modem. Then I did the things recommended here; Command Window - ipconfig /flushdns.
Then it worked for me. Now I get to the dns name insteasd of http://64.74.98.80/
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate?YES!! That did it for me too. Thanks Samuel!
I.e I , shut down browser, restart router, flushdns and open browser.
I’m releived
-
Inappropriate?I have a similar problem. I use a Macbook running Leopard. All updates done. I have a D-Link wireless modem Router (DSL-G604T) latest firmware. My ISP is Westnet (Australia).
Trying to access my profile using the above configuration only works if I switch Java script off. I tried this with Safari, Firefox and Opera.
I am experiencing the same problem on my wife's Macbook, which is on the same network. It only works with Java scripts off.
If I use my Nokia N95 as a G3 Modem for the Macbook it works like a charm.
It looks like an issue with my router and/or my ISP. I did a factory reset for the modem, flushed all caches, deleted all cookies and did even a complete reset of Safari.
Nothing helped. Can someone point me in the right direction to solve this?
Thank you
CT -
Yes, i noticed the same. I have a D-link Roter and like i wrote before i used Linkedin and was everything fine. My problem was started with D-link before month ago.
I thought that it was something with my PC but it was not, cause i now m, today, change my router with friends device router called Thomson and it was everything ok.
ANd what now.
I called my ISP and they told me that they did not change anything in settings.
So nopw i thionk that maybe LINKEDIN change sometihing in configuration with D-link router. IS it possible??? -
I forgot, I use D-link router DSL 584T.
Please, if anyone know if problerm is with LINKEDIN or with my router / or ISP.
So, what to do now, i am so frustrated. -
Inappropriate?Hi Steve,
Found this discussion thread and wanted to give you a heads up. Our IDS/IPS is regularly sending alerts with each IE 8 web visit to LinkedIn. This is the most recent - 2009-07-24 10:35:23 10.10.80.100 64.74.98.80 http http_decoder: HTTP.Request.Smuggling.
