Need additional option besides ACCEPT and DELINE for invitations.
Once again, I'm getting the following error issuing an invitation to a former colleague:
"Please note: You are now required to enter an email address to send invitations from this page because several recipients of your invitations indicated they don’t know you. This safeguard is in place to prevent users from receiving unwanted invitations from people they don’t know. You can contact Customer Service if you believe this restriction is in error."
The problem, as has been documented here before is that when someone gets an invitation they only have 2 options, ACCEPT, and DECLINE(WITH PREJUDICE). This needs to be changed to Accept, Decline, and Flag as Spam. I've had several connections refused by people who knew me, but just weren't into adding old friends or whatever to their networks.
I've got responses before from "customer service", that these folks should instead archive the invitations. TELL THE OTHER USERS, NOT ME! THEY ARE THE ONES DECLINING INVITATIONS BECAUSE OF THE SLOPPY DESCRIPTION.
Instead LinkedIn treats every No as a spammer. This is the third time my account has had invitations disabled this year, and it's extremely frustrating. I do NOT spam people I don't know with link requests. EVERY person who has ever turned me down, except one where it was a right name but wrong person situation, was someone I'd personally met and known, but for whatever reason declined my request. hat shouldn't get me flagged as a spammer.
I've heard from many others that they too have encountered this problem.
When is LinkedIn going to fix this problem.

Inappropriate? This is SUPER frustrating as people for personal reasons might choose to communicate with someone but still NOT wish to connect. That is fine as it is their choice and I respect that, however, please make the options CLEAR to all users that you can decline and still do not have to click I don't know. This is now the second time I have received an IDK from someone who I have exchanged polite notes with but they are not looking to connect at this time. Fine but they do NOT realize that an IDK is a black mark against me!
I’m frustrated

I've tried to connect with individuals with similar interests, professional backgrounds and industry experience by joining specific groups. LinkedIn notes the following in their Groups description:
"LinkedIn’s Groups Directory allows you to find communities of professionals who share a common experience, passion, interest, affiliation or goal".
However, if you reach out to someone professionally and specifically ask them to ignore or archive an invite if they do not wish to connect, but they respond with "IDK" anyways since that might be the most intuitive response, LinkedIn members are treated like felon spammers and their account gets restricted immediately (although trying to contact customer support is impossible).
Hey guys at Linked in. A few points. If somebody does not want to receive an invite from somebody they don't know, they can change their privacy settings (kind of like not answering the phone if you don't want to be disturbed). Or if they don't want to have others with similar interests to reach out to them when they are in shared Groups, maybe they shouldn't be joining the Group in the first place. I joined certain groups because I wanted to be able to expand my network. Now I'm fearful that trying to invite somebody that may pull the IDK trigger will lock me out. Is that the goal of networking? LinkedIn please review your practices for reasonableness. -
