Network Timeout when trying to access Linked In...
I can't log into LikedIn anymore.
I never had a problem until a few days ago.
I get the following message...
Network Timeout
The server at www.linkedin.com is taking too long to respond.
The requested site did not respond to a connection request and the browser has stopped waiting for a reply.
* Could the server be experiencing high demand or a temporary outage? Try again later.
* Are you unable to browse other sites? Check the computer's network connection.
* Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy? Incorrect settings can interfere with Web browsing.
* Still having trouble? Consult your network administrator or Internet provider for assistance.

Inappropriate?I am having this exact problem too. Linkedin says it is your ISP. My ISP says it is Linkedin. I am very frustrated. Anyone have a solution?

Inappropriate?I have had this LinkedIn error for TOO LONG.
No, it can't be an ISP error when the connection to other sites is fine.
Experiencing this problem with LinkedIn only!
I’m pissed off

Inappropriate?same problem...reported multiple times. can't figure it out??? HELP PLEASE!
I’m tired of trying to fix this issue!
-
Inappropriate?I have found that the problem only occurs when I log in through my Verizon FIOS network. I have no problem when logging in through other networks. I have had a message about a corrupt certificate:
"download.linkedin.com:443 uses an invalid security certificate" when I logged in through a different network.

Inappropriate?FIXED THIS ISSUE
I'm on a MacBook Pro on 10.5 and have had this issue with LinkedIn and some other sites. My laptop could not get in, but my wife's 13"MacBook could - leading me to think it was a laptop issue after I played with the router settings and it wasn't fixed.
I just got in and fixed this issue by changing the MTU on my Mac. To do so:
- Go to the Apple Menu
- Choose System Preferences
- Choose Network
- If you're on wireless, choose Airport (otherwise choose Built-in Ethernet) then click the Advanced button on the bottom right.
- Click the Ethernet tab at the top right
- Change Configure from Automatically to Manual
- Change the MTU to 1000
- Click Apply and try getting in to LinkedIn, it should work.
I’m excited

Glad I came across your comments, I am on a 3 month assignment in NZ and have not been able to connect to LinkedIn, kept timing out. Followed you instructions and now everything is working fine.... thanks...... -
Thanks for the instructions! I had no problems until I tried accessing LinkedIn from Paris. Your instructions took care of my problem. -
Inappropriate?FIXED THIS ISSUE ON A MAC - CHANGING THE MTU SETTINGS ON WIN SHOULD DO IT TOO, I DON'T KNOW HOW TO CHANGE IT ON WINDOWS THOUGH

Inappropriate? In my case it is not a router problem because if I log on with my girlfriend's laptop on my own account it works perfectly (it is a vista laptop). My laptop is a win XP PRO laptop and I tried it with IE and with Chrome but it freezes and it wont let me navigate the site. I tried changing the MTU settings in the win XP register (inserted a value for MTU that is 1500) but that doesn't work.
People who want try changing the MTU on their XP machine could do that with the help of this link:
http://www.pctools.com/guides/registr...
So my conclusion is:
NOT a browser problem
NOT a router problem
but perhaps a Operating System problem or local firewall or virus scan problem
-
Try throttling the MTU down to 1000 instead. That is what worked for me and what I would imagine would work for other users as well. -
Inappropriate?Adjusting the MTU value should resolve this problem in most cases. Remember that you need to adjust it incrementally and you may need to go as low as 1000 like DS said.

Inappropriate?I adjusted MTU with no success to solve problem...hmmm?
