Oh How, Oh HOW will Linkedin handle THIS?
At my request to have my Linkedin account closed, Linkedin SUSPENDED
the account.
What this means is that the account is still active but inaccessible by me.
What that means to thousands of Linkedin users is that they can still
invite me to connect to them and that they can still use my groups
though, I CAN'T MODERATE THEM!
And THAT means that members requesting to join my groups are being
directed/re-directed BY LINKEDIN to email me to approve them for
groups I USED to moderate on Linkedin but, now, can't!
FURTHER, regarding the sticky little issue of trademarks, service
marks, and copyrights: If Linkedin has determined that it needs to
hunt down even those of us whom Linkedin had formerly given permission
to use its trademark and brand, would it, in turn, be fair play for us
to reciprocate when we leave Linkedin and Linkedin continues to use
our brands, trademarks, etc? Should we demand removal of our service
marks when we delete our accounts and leave? And, too, what does
"closing" a Linkedin account actually mean to its members? If
Linkedin translates a deleted or closed account to be merely a
suspended account, is it reasonable for those of us who have left
Linkedin to demand that Linkedin ceases, that Linkedin desists from
using OUR copyrighted material(s), our trademarks, our service marks,
OUR brands? Or should current and prospective groups consider that
once they put anything on Linkedin it instantly gives irrevocable
rights to Linkedin to continue using them – without compensation -
even upon deletion/suspension of the account of the person who
uploaded the images and other copyrighted material(s) owned by former
members?
Since in the last year Linkedin barely responded to me when I had a
thriving membership on Linkedin backed by hundreds of pro-Linkedin
groups and dozens of pro-Linkedin blogs, I'm not at all encouraged by
Linkedin to think they will respond at all now that I'm no longer an
active member...
So, how, oh HOW will Linkedin resolve THIS?
Personally, for as long as I possibly can, I intend to Keep STRONG and
wait to see how/if Linkedin will handle this...
During these rapidly changing times, I hope you, too, will Keep STRONG!

Inappropriate?Vincent, due to the amount of connections you have and number of groups you've created, your account needs to be closed manually by our customer service department. This is currently in process, which is why your account is in a suspended state at this time.
I'll try to find out what the estimated time for the completion of this process is and let you know. -
Thanks, Steve, for the update, and for your help. -
Inappropriate? Thanks for the quick response, Steve. At the time of making the decision to close my account, I wasn't aware that it would have to be done manually....your response is informative... I hope to hear from Linkedin that the account is closed, soon.
Keep STRONG, Steve!

I’m waiting in abeyance

Inappropriate?Vincent, I just received word from our customer service department that your account was officially closed sometime around 12:00PM PST today.

this solves the problem
-
I can no longet see the groups that I had been a member of, Vincent's questions are gone, and while the pending invitation that I sent to connect was not automaticly withdrawn I was able to withdraw it manually. -
Inappropriate?Vincent, I am very sorry to hear that you had a negative experience with LinkedIn. I hope that, in some fashion, you've able to at least get some small feeling of resolution to this parting of ways.
-
Hi, Eric, Please pardon the delay but, the particular Linkedin issue above has been resolved. -
To your favor? -
Inappropriate? Not necessarily to my *immediate* favor, Eric but, long term, I believe it does/will resolve in my favor. E.g., while it may appear in the short term that a lot of work - or at least a large percentage of work - has been lost, I'm looking favorably on exploring other social media options I'd been overlooking over the past 3+ years...
(If the above is too convoluted to follow, let me get a cup of coffee and I'll try a shorter/better explanation! :-))
Keep STRONG!!
Vincent
I’m unconcerned
-
Inappropriate?Well, Vincent, I have to say that I was very intrigued by your experience. Thank you for sharing it on Get Satisfaction. As I peeled back the layers in this story, I cynically kept expecting to find out that Vincent Wright was an art project or a big joke or a cult of New Agers operating out of Esalin. But, that didn't happen, and it led me to look around and find out more about you and what you do. You have an undeniably positive approach about all of this, and that is very impressive. I think some of your positivity has rubbed off on me, and that can't be a bad thing.
Keep STRONG!!
I’m impressed
-
Inappropriate?LinkedIn management has a vision for their site and they're sticking to it. That blindness to market demand will be their undoing.
