Exporting Photosynth Models?
I am an architecture student at the University of Maryland and I am currently conducting an independent research on the application of digital media in this field. I have created several 3d environments with photosynth, but I was wondering if there was a way to export the model (ie 3ds file). Is there at the very least a Beta software that will be released that could do this? I'd like to report back to my peers and faculty regarding the future development of photosynth and I appreciate any input you could give me. Thank you.

Inappropriate?Tony, there's no official exporter, but the Live Labs team has been very supportive of people who want to interact in ways that are not yet officially supported. For instance a user (BinaryMillenium) created a pointcloud exporter and it came to the notice of Live Labs, they took the time to point us to it rather than taking legal action. There was an initial problem displaying colors correctly, but I believe that it has been solved now.
Hopefully that link will be useful enough for you. Many people have expressed an interest in an offline version of Photosynth for commercial use in architecture, film production, etc. but if such an offline tool comes out, it will not likely be a free download. There have been no plans announced as to when or if any offline version would be offered, though.
I'm not an employee of Live Labs so if you'd like to hold out for a response from them, feel free, but I wouldn't expect anything too vastly different.

Inappropriate?Nate is completely correct about our attitude to data export. We will be releasing documentation about our formats, but until then feel free to use BinaryMillenium's library.
