Photosynth installed but i cant view any photosynths
I install this and did a test run of some pictures. I am unable to view any photosynths. Why? I'm running vista and "assume" I have IE8. When I click to browse, and click on phtosynths to view, it takes me to the download photosynth page? but it IS installed. Help anyone?

Inappropriate?Hi Linda, sorry to hear about your problems getting Photosynth working on your computer. We have successfully tested the viewer on IE8, so there must be something else going on here.
Can you try closing all instances of IE8 and then going back to the photosynth.com site to see if you can view then? Also, can you verify that you see files in c:\program files\photosynth (this is where the installer should place the binaries that it installs). -
My bad, I have IE7, and yes photosynth is installed. What appears to NOT have installed is the viewer plug in. I am able to make a synth..I see the thumbnails up there...but I cant view them. When I click view...it takes me back to the "install photosynth" page. I am making sure I am signed in..etc. Is there sometthing that blocks the plugin? Is there a way to see if the plugin is installed? I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times...no success. Yes, c/program files...it is there. These files-msidcrl40-npPhotosynthMozilla-PhotosynthActiveX-Seadragon- and XceedZip...all dll files and then also PSWebClient------Thanks for your help on this Bert! -
Inappropriate?Hi Linda, hmm...strange, sounds like you've got the right stuff installed. Here are a couple of things to try:
* To figure out why IE7 isn't working, try going to the Manage Add-Ons dialog (it's in the Tools -> Manage Add-Ons - > Enable or Disable Add-Ons menu). Here's a screenshot of what I see on IE7/Vista at home:

* You could also try Firefox (we have a plugin that works with both FF3 and FF2, it's installed as part of the process for installing the synther and the IE plugin). You have it installed so would be curious to hear if that works.
Also, what OS are you running? -
Hi i have same problem as Linda i have enabled the addin in IE7 as well as i have files in C:\program files.. can u suggest us a perfect solution for this. -
Inappropriate?Hi Sumit, what OS are you running?

Inappropriate?Bret, my system has Vista home premium OS.

Inappropriate? Is it a 64-bit OS? If so, make sure you're using the 32-bit version of IE (Photosynth doesn't work in the 64-bit version).
Also, do you have UAC turned on? It should work with UAC enabled (I have Vista Home Premium on my home machine as well, and run with UAC and the Direct3D viewer does work for me), but wondering if there might be some security setting that is preventing the viewer from working.
Since we released the Silverlight viewer this week, you hopefully can view now using that.
