research question, need more than 300 photos
Hi, I am involved in an archaeohistoric research project on a very large fortress in the Ukraine, though I live in the UK. One of the research questions is how to record the site, we are using geophysics, gps and total stations but I had the idea of creating a synth. I have used synths in my own research on medieval timber framed buildings and have found them a great resource in disseminating information. The size of the fortress though would require 1000s of images, does MS have any interest in helping make this possible? Is there away I can make this happen? I see you are trying to bring out a version that links synths to other synths, is there an eta on this? The website for the fortress is www.akkermanfortress.org if your interested. We aim to be out there again in June this year.

Inappropriate?We probably won't officially be supporting more than 300 images any time soon. The largest synths have about 1200 photos in them, so it's possible to get them that big. If you are running XP, it helps to have Service Pack 3 installed. (Check your version information under My Computer -> Properties.)
Have you considered making multiple synths? You could do one of the whole scene with most of the details eliminated, and then one of each area of focus with all the details there.

I guess I can break the fortress into its smaller constituent parts and then embed them on a page to provide access to the various parts from one location. Was hoping to take it further though as a research project in its own right so it can become an archaeological tool in its own right. A cheaper version of photogrammetry if you like.
