Seadragon Ajax on Mobile Browsers.
Hi there,
I'm currently doing my final year dissertation at university, I have chosen to use Seadragon Ajax to create a maps style environment.
The question I have is: "Is 'seadragon ajax' compatible with the latest version of window mobile browser?"
Many thanks,
Armin T.

Inappropriate?Just an addition to this question.
I've since been contacted by Bill Crow, who has clarified that mobile browsers are not officially support.
What I'd like to know, if possible, is if there are any future plans to create a mobile browser compatible version of the Seadragon Ajax?
Many thanks,
Armin T.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Hey Armin,
Sorry for the delay in responding! And thanks for your patience. Glad that Bill gave you a quicker answer.
We probably won't be putting much effort into supporting older mobile browsers mainly for two reasons: (1) they tend not to have the standards support we need, making Seadragon Ajax non-functional, and (2) they tend to not have the processing power we need, making Seadragon Ajax not a great experience to use.
For example, IE on Windows Mobile has actually been a version of IE5 for the longest time. That's old! That doesn't have much of the HTML and CSS spec implemented that we rely on.
If you have a version of Opera (e.g. Opera Mini), I have personally seen Seadragon Ajax work on Opera Mini 4 on a Blackberry. It's not fast by any means, but at least it functions. =)
We do try to unofficially support (i.e. take into consideration, and try to make sure it at least works on) newer browsers, like Safari Mobile on the iPhone and the version of Chrome that ships with Android.
Meanwhile, we're working actively with the Windows Mobile team to see how we can integrate Seadragon into the actual OS itself there, but (a) this won't quite be related to Seadragon Ajax, and (b) this probably won't have any public results anytime in the immediate future.
Hope this clarifies things for you! Let us know if you have any other questions. Good luck with your disseration! =)
