Synth both as picrures and already prepared photonth files?
It is my second idea how to make the synth more handy. You answered that you even won't make Photosynth more independent from the Internet, so maybe you will add such possibility as synth of only part of the photocollection: user can get many synth files, and if he want he could synth these files between themselves.
For example, I have seen the message of one human that tried to synth about 600photos at once and it takes frpm him about 25 hours. It could be better if he can use the photosynth in his comfortable time.

Inappropriate?There's still a lot of processing that would be required in your scenario, but it's a interesting idea in how to handle larger sets.

Inappropriate?I think the "synth linking" that we are planning might help you here. We really DO want to allow you to make a seamless experience out of 600 or even 6000 photos, but to do that will require you to break them into clumps of at most a few hundred, and then tell the system which clumps to attempt to join up.
Could we do all this automatically? Yes we probably could, and I think we ultimately will, but we need this linking facility anyway, so it will be your quickest way to get to an experience involving a very large number of photos.
