Using seadragon ajax library link in an https secure page possible?
I like the idea of relying on the microsoft to host the seadragon library. An update was made a while ago to seadragon and I didn't have to do anything, that was nice. But now I need to use seadragon in some https secure webpages and https://seadragon.com/ajax/0.8/seadra... doesn't work. Is there a different secure url I should use? Or am I now required to host the library myself?

Inappropriate?Hey Scott,
Unfortunately we don't have it available via https:// currently. We're also in the process of moving some of our hosting to Windows Azure, so it's not practical for us to get a certificate set up just now.
But with the move to Azure, it might be significantly easier to get https:// working. One of our ops guys is looking into that, so hopefully we can make this available sometime, but be aware that we won't move to Azure for a few weeks still.
You're right that one of the benefits of using our hosted version is the silent updates with bug fixes, etc. Another is that users might have it cached already. So if those benefits are important to you, you could just continue to use our hosted version.
Your users would get those "unsecure content" prompts, though, so if that's more important to you, you could host it yourself instead. We don't have a .zip publicly available for hosting (because remember that you need to host the button images also), but let me know if you want to go this route, and I'll make a .zip for you.
Thanks for understanding! -
Inappropriate? It's not a big deal for me to host 1 javascript file, no need to zip it up :). I'm already using my own custom button images. I just remember reading that you guys preferred people reference the hosted seadragon javascript file rather than host it themselves.
Please let me know when https is working so I can reference that on my https pages. For now I'll continue to reference your hosted version on my http pages. -
Inappropriate?Ok, cool. Indeed, we recommend using our hosted version to get the updates. But one thing we can do whenever we release updates is to explicitly announce them here. We probably should be doing that anyway.
So go ahead and host your own copy for now. Then on the next update (we don't have one planned for the near future), you can update your hosted copy. And we'll let you know here if we get https:// working.
By the way, be sure to update the image path to your own folder, via Seadragon.Config.imagePath, before instantiating a viewer, just to guarantee that no requests are made to our hosted images.
