Photosynth has been under incredible demand since we released late yesterday evening. Getting ready for the launch we did massive amounts of performance testing, built capacity model after capacity model, and yet with all of that, you threw so many uploads at the service we had to throttle them back for a few hours.
At the same time, we tried to tweak a few database settings to allow us to handle more uploads and inadvertently introduced a bug that is causing a small percent of synths to fail with an error code or hang right at the end. We're rolling back that change now and that should fix the majority of those errors.
While that is being fixed, we are adding capacity as fast as we can and letting in more and synthers. Keep trying, but it might be a few hours before we can get everyone in. In the mean time, we hope you will check out our "How to Synth" video (http://blip.tv/file/1190926/), grab a camera, head outside and start taking pictures for the next awesome synth.
No excuses; just the facts on why you are seeing these issues. We really appreciate the enthusiasm and are hard at work ironing out the issues and adding more capacity.

Inappropriate?Hi - I'm sorry you're having problems synthing. This is a more general error code, so it's tough to pinpoint the problem with just that information. My first suggestion would be to try the synth again. (I know - it's a long haul if it's a large collection of images.)
The good thing is that Photosynth won't try and upload your images again, so it should be faster the second time. Please let us know how it goes!
I’m hopeful this works for you.

I tried it with a same data set five times.... alwas error A00000009 ..... I am sad... -
Inappropriate?I'm sorry to say, that I have the same Error. Tried many times, but it don't want to work.
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?I'm getting the same errors.
Just 8 photos, uploading directly from hard drive. JPGs
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?Tried a different set of pictures. got all the way through downloading and just as green bar reached end I now have A0000004 error
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Same error over and over and you cannot reuse the synth name even though it has not appeared on the site
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Same here. Note that you can't just retry... for me at least I had to use a new name for the set.
-
Inappropriate?Despite the same error code the synth still seems to have worked for us - with the exception of a few photos. But it comes up as 0% synthy when about 90 of the photos connect with each other. Pretty impressive for a beta though! Many thanks.
-
Inappropriate?same error for me : tried with large, normal and small pictures : always A0000009 or A0000005 errors...
I’m microsoftated
-
Inappropriate?Same error here ... I try 2 time ... same error
Yes, my version is: 2.0.1403.6
I’m anxious
-
Inappropriate?same error
after 2nd try, I cant synth again
"You've already built a synth with this name"
but nothing there

Inappropriate?I have the same problems. Making of synth was aborted, I got error A0000009, the same thing happened when I tried to make a new synth. And over and over again. Maybe this all happens because the site is overwhelmed (I got this message when I tried to sign in)
The Photosynth site is a little overwhelmed just now. While we’re reviving it, please enjoy this beautiful synth. Refresh the page to explore a different one.

Inappropriate?Hi Everyone, thanks for the feedback on this problem.
The team is aware of these failures and we're investigating. We've disabled uploads for the time being until we zero in on the problem. We'll update you when we have a resolution.. -

Inappropriate? To add to my original post, the reason you cannot upload a synth with the same name is that, when the synther hits a snag right at the end like that, our backend servers have the synth and the name is in our database, only it is not 100% complete so we don't show it. Just like if you had a completed synth in your account, you couldn't add a second with the same exact name.
We are looking into changing this long term, and cleanign up failed synths. In the mean time, just add a unique name for each attempt, like "My Synth (2)".

Inappropriate?I would have at least wanted to see it locally, now for some unknown A0000009 reason, all my time is wasted. This sucks.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Keep it up guys, I got the A000...9 error as well, but the concept is fantastic and you'll get the load issues fixed.
Feature I'd like to see the most: save synth to a private file. I'd love to synth my beach house, wish I had one for the house I grew up in.
I’m Liking the way this is going.
-
Inappropriate? We're still experiencing some issues with our upload process and that is causing the synth failures. We apologize to everyone who's experiencing this.
We're working as hard as we can to solve the issues. -
Inappropriate? It might help if you could give us some clue as to when people can expect this. I've tried uploading the same set about 5 times before the site was shut down yesterday and once again today. Same error.
So, should I just stop trying and come back in a week or so? Or try on a different laptop? Or don't use the same set of images anymore? Is there other data that I (and the rest of us) can provide you with that would help you with your work? Should I try a re-install of the upload tool?
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate?Yesterday I tried to make a new synth, it took about 5 hours and eventualy it stopped working for like an hour or hour and a half at "Publishing synth", so I went to bed. I'll try again and let you know
I’m confused
