Firefox 3 does not allow the toolbar to be installed because "it does not offer secure updates"

Alexander, I definitely agree. It had been a lower priority before as they stabilized things with the platform but now that it is nearing launch we are prioritizing support and are working on it now.
I will be sure to update this thread when we push the update out.
Thanks for the great feedback.

We have posted a new version that is compatible with Firefox 3, available now. You can download it from Mozilla's Addons site by going to:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fire...
They currently have it "sandboxed" so unfortunately you will have to create an account there to download it, but it is available.
You will notice a number of changes from the current Toolbar if you are using XP. We are moving to a much lighter model in terms of functionality built into the toolbar itself. In fact, you won't see a toolbar anymore, its not just a button in the navigation pane of the browser. Click it will take you to the Find Me page on Loki where you can do your local search.
- The toolbar has been removed in favor of a single button. We think vertical real estate is important to every user and we didnt need all that space :)
- The button has a drop down menu for options and MyLoki integration
- Enable myloki to take advantage of Facebook, Twitter, FireEagle and RSS integration - http://my.loki.com
- We will be building the Find Me page out soon to add a richer local search experience

As always, we are interested to hear your feedback -- both good and bad -- as we try to make a better product. Thanks for the patience

Inappropriate?Alexander,
They have changed a number of things with regards to extensions for Firefox 3 and we don't officially support it yet as its not stable yet.
Once it has been finalized we will update Loki to fully support it.
Thanks for following up with us. Best, Ryan

Inappropriate?Then please
a) set the compatible with versions flag in the extension so that Firefox knows it cannot be installed on beta versions of 3 yet
b) declare this on the download page
Or even look at it now, because the beta versions are already very, very stable (using it for a few weeks already, since beta 2). It's much better than FF2 since it has become fast again and doesn't suck up more and more system resources when the browser is running for a long time and many tabs are open. That's why many people (geeks ;-) are already switching over to the beta.
AFAIK they won't change any features in the betas anymore, so it's the right time for extension developers to prepare for 3 so that you are already done when the final release comes out.
I’m unsure

Inappropriate? The problem isn't solved, why are people marking any answer as solved? When he posts a download link, then it's solved.
-
Inappropriate?Well, Firefox 3 has been released from beta. Any ideas on when we can get Loki, too?
I’m terribly frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Yea what's going on, FF3 has become quite stable now, and is due for full release in less than a month.
I’m just waiting
-
Inappropriate?I finally got my hands on a few FireEagle invitations, but I can't see how it ties in with Loki since the toolbar won't play nice with FF3 RC1. Bummer.
I’m disappointed
-
Inappropriate?FF3 RC2 is out today, and Loki still isn't offering secure updates. Will a compatible version be released by the time FF3 goes gold?
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Still working on it. Since we use a lot of lower-level APIs and support a number of different platforms its taking a little longer than most other extensions would typically take. We are hoping to have it done in time for the gold launch.
-
Inappropriate?RC2, still can't install. [sigh]
-
I thought the main issue was install.rdf's updateURL simply lacking an https and stating 2.0 was the max version. I altered both of these and produced an installable XPI that proceeded to crash Firefox, so I suppose a quick fix is not going to be the answer. -
Inappropriate?Attention Ryan Sarver, Official Loki Rep.
Firefox 3.0 has been finalized and launched, when will Loki come up with the solution?
I’m intolerant of the delay!!!
-
Inappropriate?hey try this it's working fr me http://kb.mozillazine.org/Extensions....
add tht to about:config nd tht shld work -
Nope, it allowed me to download and attempt to install, but then I got an "Incompatible Extension", "Skyhook Wireless Loki 2.2 could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 3.0." Be sure to turn security checking back on if you've tried this. -
Inappropriate?Certainly has made me suspect that Loki is less than on top of their game.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?i've got my eye-fi explorer card in my Nikon D50 and it seems to be working super. i also travel and take notes with my 12'' notebook but Loki won't load on full version released Firefox 3!! Can we get this fixed in an expedient fashion so I can add location to my notes without carrying around a third device (my TomTom)
I’m confused by the lack of progress
-
Inappropriate?BTW, as the original reporter of this problem: due to missing support for my central desktop experience (FF3), and thus no installation and access to the service at all, I already have completely forgotten what Loki is all about. The only way I know it still exists is by getting new comments in this getsatisfaction thread via mail. Just telling you that you guys know you are loosing users for something that probably does not even take a day to build.
I’m not caring any more
-
I wouldn't say it doesn't even take a day to build, but I do believe that by putting it off for a 'more final' version of Firefox, they really wasted a lot of their own time that they could have used to put it together before launch at a leisurely pace. -
Inappropriate?I'm disappointed in the extremely slow response to get a FF3 plugin released as well as the lack of Safari support. The Firefox 3 official release has been out for 3 weeks now and the release candidates were out well before that.
I’m very frustrated
