We're receiving reports that some T-Mobile users are unable to receive the verification text message. Based on reports so far, this seems to most affect users who have switched to T-Mobile in the last few months. We're working on a solution and will post an update here as soon as we know more. Thanks for your patience!

I have the problem too... hope you guys can figure it out soon.
Looking forward to trying out the app. -
I've been with T-mobile for nearly three years now, so the proposed cause/effect scenario shouldn't affect me. I switched my phone to a G1 in October, but, again, aside from the phone change, I've had a T-mobile account since June of 2006. This issue is 3 months old now and no update? What's going on? -
Kirkh,
Please try sending a text message with the word START to 29201 to reset messaging. Then, go to wwww.loopt.com on your computer, click on Register in the upper right, and it should let you register that way.
Chris -
Loopt will not work on my iPhone even with ATT. No text message received to activate. I have tried about 10 times with no luck. I can receive and send other Text messages -
Mike,
It should work now if you register from a computer. Go to www.loopt.com and click on Register in the upper right. We had a brief SMS outage via AT&T. It should be fixed now. If you still have trouble, please email support@loopt.com with your mobile number, and we'll take a look.

whats goin on. -
Ashley,
Loopt doesn't support the phone you posted about. We only support the G1 and a few BlackBerries on T-Mobile, so that's why it won't verify your phone. Sorry we can't support your phone yet!
Chris -
Inappropriate?what about if you have an iPhone and use Tmobile as your carrier
-
Loopt isn't currently supported on T-Mobile iPhones, so the verification process will fail. -
We know what the problem is. We're just not sure how to overcome it at the moment. If you switched to T-Mobile recently from another wireless company, there's a 30 day blackout window for SMS messages sent from some services. We think we happen to be in that basket. We're trying to figure out if there's any way around it. Sorry to keep everyone waiting. -
Inappropriate? Thanks for the update Chris. Do you know if it is possible to call T-Mobile and have the 30 day blackout removed from our accounts? I'd really like to try using Loopt and would rather not wait 30 days for T-Mobile to decide things are okay :)
I’m anxious
-
Brint - The problem isn't really T-Mobile at the moment, so there won't be anything they can do. We're working on a workaround to get the folks in this situation up and running without having to wait until the end of the 30 day period. I'll post an update as soon as we know more. -
Inappropriate?Keep trying. I switched to t-mobile about three weeks ago and couldn't get my confirmation text. I tried signing every couple of days and after about a week or so I got it to work. I am up and loopting away! Worked for my wife's phone too.
NOTE: we ported over old numbers from Sprint, these were not new lines of service.
Good Luck!

Inappropriate?i try to register at least once a week, and still nothing. i changed to T-Mobile about a month ago (i have the G1). and not receiving the verification sms.
-
Inappropriate?I had an unlocked iPhone with T-Mobile and initially set up my looped account on the iPhone. I do not recieve the text messages, I was wondering if anyone has deleted their loopt account and then tried to open a new one now that we have the G1? Chris does this make sense? have you heard of anyone doing it?
-
Inappropriate?FIXED!!! When I deleted my account at Loopt, uninstalled Loopt on my phone, then started the whole process again, everything worked as it should. I think that since I had the Loopt account before I had the G1 this just messed everything up. Receiving sms messages from Loopt is really nice and I am glad I now I have the feature.
I’m very happy!
-
Inappropriate?Loren, I'm not sure if that helps others. I personally never had an account with Loopt, since I can't get the initial confirmation text.
For the Loopt folks - is anything stored about the attempts to create an account? If so, then maybe my account is actually messed up in a similar way from when I was back on sprint and tried to sign up. Is it possible to clear out all record of my number so I can try again?
Thanks! -
Hi Brint,
Each time you register for Loopt with the same phone number, it completely overwrites the old account or registration attempt with a new registration. Loren's situation was unique due to an existing active Loopt account on another carrier. If you change to another wireless company and try to use the same Loopt account without re-registering or sending us a change carrier request, Loopt will let you login but text messages won't get delivered to the proper place. Loren ended up re-registering with the same number and wiping out the old Loopt account completely to fix messaging and wasn't affected by the T-Mobile SMS blackout period. Unfortunately, select T-Mobile users who switched to T-Mobile within the last 30 days get stuck in a 15-30 day SMS blackout period for some services that happen to include Loopt. Since I think you're in this latter situation, there's nothing on our end that can be done to fix that (that we know of at the moment, though we're working on that). Previous registration attempts are completely overwritten by each successive attempt, so there shouldn't be anything there hold you up.
Happy Holidays! I wish I could get you on Loopt as a gift from us, but we're still hammering away at this one.
Chris -
Thanks Chris. That was my assumption as well - I just wanted to confirm. I'll keep trying and hope for the best! -
Inappropriate? But I am with AT&T, I have never managed to activate my registration as I never get an SMS message to activate
I’m Frustrated

If you are with AT&T, please see item #4 in the following post specifically for AT&T users: http://getsatisfaction.com/loopt/topi...

Inappropriate?Chris,
I am having the same issue. I initially tried to register when I had an ipod touch, not knowing that loopt used SMS. Then I got an unlocked iPhone (legally from Hong Kong) and I put my T-Mobile SIM card in the phone. I tried reregistering an account as I never was able to use it with the Touch. I never get the SMS message on T-mobile, however. I am confused about the blackout period you mentioned as I have had the T-Mobile number with data and SMS plan for several years. If there is a blackout period, I wouldn't think my account would be affected by it as there have not been any changes to the account. SMS from other phones/carriers and SMS services seem to work fine.
Brian -
Brian,
We don't currently support iPhones on T-Mobile, so that's why you can't receive our SMS messages. This discussion involving the 30 day blackout period only applies to BlackBerries and the G1 on T-Mobile. I should have made that more clear in the discussion title. Sorry!
Chris -
Inappropriate? Thanks for the update Chris. I would think you would want to support iPhones on any possible carrier as they are sold unlocked by Apple in other countries so that one can use a different carrier. In any case, I deleted the app from my phone and attempted registration again from your website. Somehow it worked that time and I got like 20 SMS messages from all my previous attempts. I had to tell your website that I was using the G1 and then download Loopt from the iphone app store but it's working fine now.
-
Inappropriate?ive had the same problem with the g1 i had att about 3 weeks ago. i finally registered on the web site and suddenly everything worked. i downloaded the latest loopt from the market.
-
Have you read the thread yet? This isn't an issue that Tmobile controls as much as you might think. But time will fix it:
http://getsatisfaction.com/loopt/topi... -
Loopt uses an aggregator service to verify and route messages to T-Mobile users. New and ported T-Mobile accounts can take up to 4 or 5 weeks to be accessible to Loopt for messaging. We're working with the aggregator to try and shorten this period, but we unfortunately don't have direct control over it and therefore can't provide a specific time by which it will be resolved. Registering 4-5 weeks after a port to T-Mobile should work though. -
Inappropriate?I just activated an iPhone in Spain with no problems.
I did have problems originally 3 months ago even with ATT but now it seems to work OK.
I’m Happy Now

Inappropriate? How in the hell do I unsubscribe from this thread?!?!?! I keep getting reply emails and can't unsubscribe and can't log-in to my account?!?!?!?!
-
Inappropriate? Please delete my post above (bnash972) and unsubscribe me.
I had to create a new account to leave a reply. Because you appear to be sending updates to some kind of mailing list and not my account directly, I don't even know what email address you are sending updates to. My email header does not show what account/email address was used.
Put an unsubscribe link in your emails! Under the new CAN-SPAM ruling it is now required to provide an unsubscribe link that lands on an unsubscribe page. You can no longer require individuals to log-in to an account to unsubscribe.
Thank you
Brad

Brad,
GetSatisfaction is a 3rd party that we use to host our customer forum. If I could delete your account with them, I would, but we don't have that level of control over them. When you create an account and submit a question or comment, GetSatisfaction sends up the followups via email. I just verified that each email they send when you follow a topic has a "stop following this question" link and an "email settings" link at the bottom of the email. Going to either one of those should allow you to stop following this thread or delete your GetSatisfaction account altogether. -
Inappropriate? The "stop following" url requires an account log-in. I have several email accounts that are managed by one server so I can't tell what email address these emails are being sent to. For what ever reason the emails coming from this message board on't even include my email alias in the header which is non-standard so I can't even use the forgot password feature.
I'll just keep hitting the SPAM button.
